爱思英语编者按：狄兰&托马斯()，英国著名诗人、作家。他的创作围绕生、欲和死这三大主题，诗风粗犷而热烈。Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night是Dylan Thomas的代表作之一。尽管这位诗人英年早逝，但我们仍可以从此诗中感受到诗人面对&暮年&表现出的大无畏精神。其实，谁不怕老去，谁不畏惧生命的终止？影片中，为了人类存亡的未来，他们毅然决定迈向广阔而未知的星际。在浩瀚宇宙的绝望而孤独角落，用这首诗给他们信念。

狄兰&托马斯（1914 - 1953），人称为&疯狂的狄兰&，生于英国威尔士一个很有教养的中产阶级的家庭，而他本人天生就是一个顽童，而后又成为酒鬼、烟鬼。他很早就预感他活不长，自称要创造一个&紧迫的狄兰&，一个有着自我毁灭激情的诗人。他从本质上讲是一个浪漫主义者。他十九岁时出版了第一本诗集，立即引起了诗界的注意，接着他移居伦敦，两年后又以第二本诗集赢得了许多著名诗人的赞扬，1946年出版的《死亡与出场》更为不同凡响。这时他不仅轻而易举地走进了英国当代大诗人的行列，而且催生了摹仿他的&新启示&诗派（又称为&天启派&）。
《不要温和地走进那个良夜》作于诗人的父亲逝世前的病危期间，整首诗充斥着夜晚与白昼、黑暗与光明、温和与狂暴、死亡与生命的二元对立，因此语言的张力十分饱满。
