感恩节说火鸡：“说火鸡”是啥意思
感恩节将至，我们来和大家说说一个关于火鸡的英语短语：talk turkey。说火鸡？到底是什么意思呢？在公布答案之前，我们先来了解一下为何火鸡会成为感恩节必备美食的。
1620年，著名的&五月花&号船（Mayflower）满载不堪忍受英国国内宗教迫害的清教徒102人到达美洲。1620年和1621年之交的冬天，他们遇到了难以想象的困难，处在饥寒交迫之中，冬天过去时，活下来的移民只有50来人。这时，心地善良的印第安人给移民送来了生活必需品，还特地派人教他们怎样狩猎、捕鱼和种植玉米、南瓜。
白人移民和印第安人建立了亲密的友谊。这年11月玉米丰收，移民们举行了丰盛的感恩会，用烤火鸡和玉米糕点款待印第安人。印第安人带着各种玉米制品、烤火鸡、南瓜馅饼、野葡萄以及玉米酒浆等参加晚会，人们欢唱歌舞，通霄达旦。以后在每年玉米收获后的11月底，定居在这里的白人移民都要举行感恩会，家家烤火鸡，烹制玉米食品，款待印第安人。现今，玉米制品和火鸡仍然是欢度感恩节不可缺少的食品。

相传在北美殖民时期，一个白人和一个黑人去打猎，事先说好了平分打到的猎物。结果一天下来只打到一只火鸡和一只鹧鸪。
白人心里想要火鸡，但又不敢直接说，于是对印第安人说&如果你要火鸡，我就拿鹧鸪；如果你要鹧鸪，我就拿火鸡&。印第安人一听就明白了，于是针锋相对地说：&你一直在讲火鸡，现在让我也讲讲火鸡吧！&
于是talk turkey演变成&打开窗户说亮话，说实在的，坦诚地说话&的意思了。
