We are looking for a vendor to perform electrolytic stripping process of Stainless Steel cases (five Each).
We currently have five compressor cases that require electrolytic stripping of a thermal spray bond coat, METCO 443 (Nickel Chromium Aluminum).
- Case material is GEAM 355 (Stainless Steel Alloy)
- Case dimensions are:
&&&o Diameter = 18.625 inches (at flange, largest diameter)
&&&o Height = 16.0 inches
- METCO 443 Bond coat to be removed is 0.003 to 0.006 inches thick.

The process calls for submersing the compressor case in a Sodium Nitrate solution.
Charging the part and a stainless steel cathode with 5.5 to 6.5 volts for 2 hours.

I would like to find a Chrome plater (anywhere in the US) that can assist me in re-chroming some vintage automobile spotlights. Most of the pieces need to be nickel/chrome plated but, some of them require nickel plating only. The spotlight "buckets" have some stamping that needs to be retained. They are made of brass and my hopes are to be able to bypass copper on these to help retain the stamp. There are some pot metal parts but they are all in good condition with very little corrosion. Have not had a lot of luck locally, I need to get them done and done correctly and I don't mind shipping. I am trying to find a go to plater I can send things to and trust. 60184. Need Heavy Metal Chess Sets Plated
RFQ: Hello.
I have made a chess set out of fasteners and it has been accepted for exhibition at the World Chess Hall of Fame in St. Louis.
I have been working on this project for about 3 years.
I use zinc plated nuts and bolts for one side.
The other side I have been priming and spray painting with gold paint.
The problem is it easily scratches off and I want a quality product.
People have been asking me to sell a chess set to them.
I will try to attach a picture.
To fix this problem, I would like to have nuts and bolts plated with trivalent chromate for the "gold" i.e. one half would be zinc the other half would be zinc yellow.
My questions are:
Is trivalent chromate (yellow zinc) hazardous to touch after plating?
Will the shine of a nut or bolt plated with yellow zinc wear off over time?
and most importantly, is there a plating service available where I could send samples of my pieces to find out how much it would cost to have them plated?

60216. Yamaha "Midnight Special" bike's "Gold" refinishing work
RFQ: Greetings.
In early 80 Yamaha produced a line of bikes with a black and gold them called Midnight Specials.
I'm searching for a shop to do some refinishing work on a number of items. I've heard them being everything from real gold (doubt that) to vacuum metalizing, etc. But to date nobody can ID what we have going on here. The closest I can describe this is a gold faucet from Home Depot. Closer to brass than a deep rich gold color.
I sprung for four carb tops recently that were supposed to be correct. They are not. Far closer to a 'rose gold' color than the correct one.
There are number o carb tops, grab bars, caps ... and of course some plastic items as well.
If anyone has a line on the correct finish for this I'm eagerly looking to do some business with you. I have a number of items which over time will be refinished.

I have a set of Browning Citori 525 over/under shotgun barrels that will be back-bored, polished, threads cut and choke-tubes installed. Back-boring will remove the current hard chrome lining in the bores. I require new hard chrome plating in both bores. The original hard chrome in the chambers will remain, and area of the threads for their choke-tubes should not be hard chromed to ensure that the choke-tubes will still fit after the bores have been plated.
I have had the forcing cones lengthened and polished. I did not have any back boring done.
I believe that this process did remove the hard chrome in the chamber as well as the forcing cones.

60059. Stripping Door Hardware Finishes -- Albany, NY area
RFQ: We are doing a project in the Albany, NY area and want to use a certain brand of cast brass door hardware.
The manufacturer does not offer the hardware unfinished.
I believe all their hardware is coated first with copper before the final finish coat is applied (bronze, satin nickel, etc.).
The bronze is supposed to be a "living finish" and with use, wears off intentionally, so it doesn't sound like it's impossible to remove.
I've stripped lacquer off door hardware before but the coating of copper is a new one on me. Is there anyone who would be able to do this project?

RFQ: I am looking to have two items replated - a vintage pendant plated in (yellow) gold, the finish of which has rubbed off, and a pressed glass powder box with a silverplate top that is missing silver on about half the top.

60014. RFQ of Tin-Lead Plating Service for Copper Bus Bars Used in Lead-Acid Battery System
RFQ: My organization is using a lead acid battery system with copper bus bars connecting individual cells. Some bus bars have corroded, reducing the efficiency of our system. Rather than continue to polish the bus bars which only oxidize again later, we'd like to explore plating all of our bus bars to enhance corrosion resistance while maintaining a high enough conductivity that it does not affect our application significantly. I believe tin-lead will be a good low cost solution but I'm open to suggestions.
We probably have around 200-250 copper bus bars that measure approx. 1" X 4" X 0.1" that we'd like to plate at this time. We have more at another location that we would want to do later if this is successful.

RFQ: Hello. So we are a custom watch supplier and do mainly homage watches for our fan-based customers. Once we have a good amount of requests for a certain model we will start to prototype the watch unt so, with that said, we have this one watch we are having a lot of trouble getting a good color for the tachymeter rehult ring which is the gold/bronze color ring around the red dial (center face of watch).

My husband and I settled on a CZ wedding set that was supposed to be a Sterling Silver setting with Rhodium overlay to boost the bling.
As I've been wearing them the last 6 months, the Rhodium has worn away between the 2 rings rubbing together and there is no sterling silver underneath, but a nickel or copper setting.
Are we able to get this re-plated? Is this something your company is able to do?

Alternately, I'm thinking about buying pre-sand blasted sheet metal, just so I can have a homogenous surface. I cannot use dibond in this project, unless someone knows of a dibond without the plastic coating on top. Any advice would be so appreciated. I just need very very clean and non-scratched aluminum and it seems impossible to find. Thank you!

RFQ: My father in-law served in the US Army in the 1960's and spent some time guarding the Berlin Wall.
During his years of service, he was awarded two identical trophies.
At this point they are tarnished, or maybe rusted.
At first look, they seem to have silver plated figures on a brass base.
I would love to find out the cost to restore these.
It would make a nice Christmas gift for him.

RFQ: I am an antique tool restorer and I have been wanting to get into re-plating some of the tools instead of just stripping the old nickel finish off. The majority of the parts are cast iron polished and rough. Every once in a while I have steel hardware that also would need plating and I am not sure what type of steel was used. RFQ: I have a Thermador Cook'n'Vent gas cooktop with a downdraft as part of the unit.
ventilator, Super Burner and Griddle Cover are stainless steel.
It has a griddle feature and 4 gas burners.
The griddle is aluminum coated with SilverStone.
It works great but is very dated looking and I don't like the stainless steel look.
Is it possible to refinish it with enamel in a white or soft neutral color?
Is there any

If near me, that's great, but am willing to work with someone good at a distance.
In addition, I have a 1986 SubZero refrigerator.
The top ventilation plate, toe plate, handle and hinges are all stainless steel.
Can they be refinished to look like a muted, not polished, brass?

59974. Need long lasting abrasion resistant gold plating for brass bracelets
RFQ: I have begun to manufacture my own jewelry and I have brass link bracelets to be gold plated. I need a lasting finish on them, preferably
the tune of a few years.
One particular problem with these bracelets is that the links are not soldered to each
therefore rub against one another constantly during wear.
I need a 14k finish that can withstand all that, in addition to all the other wear and tear .
I keep reading about vacuum plating with titanium nitride. From my limited understanding that might present a suitable option. In addition e-plating has been suggested to me but from what I read here it doesn't seem as though clear coating presents a nice finish .
I can't seem to locate a factory that does this type of plating on jewelry.
I would appreciate any suggestions as to a plating process and I would like to find an establishment that does this kind of plating.
And I might add that it should be cost effective . Thanking you all in advance.
