ago, and I liked it so much that I read it perhaps three more times. The author
of this story is the famous Lao She, and this book is so famous that it has been
translated into many languages, including English.　　Basically, the story is about the living conditions of rickshaw drivers in
Beijing. It's kind of a social critique of the way people were during that time.
The story is a bit complex, so I won't go through the plot but you do get a
sense of the injustice and hardships suffered by people before liberation. The
main character. is a man who had many dreams and ambitions as a youth, but lost
them along the way. His life is thus a kind of struggle for survival and a
challenge to reconcile his lost ambitions.　　I like this story best because it's full of sympathy for ordinarily folk.
Sometimes I feel we need to take a closer look at the conditions of people in
our lives. You know, I guess you could say I came from a wealthier side of
society, and it's so easy to ignore the conditions of people who are not so
lucky as yourself. Also, this book reminds us how far our society has
progressed. We still have rickshaw drivers and poor folk, but not nearly as many
as during the time Lao She was writing. People's lives are better now, but we
haven't yet reached the ideal state yet, so we had better look after each other

　　2014年9月雅思口语新题解析：An APP that you think is useful
　　每年的1月，5月和9月对雅思考生来说都是重要的月份。在这三个月里，雅思口语考题会有相应的变化，并有许多新题注入新一轮的考试中。接下来的一段时间，我将帮助各位考生逐个解析在这个换题季出现的所有新题。
　　Describe an APP that you think is useful.
　　You should say:
　　what app it is
　　what contents it has
　　how do you use it
　　and explain why you think this app is useful.
　　解析：
　　这虽然是一道新题，但很多考生会发现它特别像物品类题目中的‘电子产品’题，在那道题目中要求考生描述这个电子产品是什么，你是如何得到的，如何使用的，以及使用这个电子产品的种种好处。今年9月份的这道新题只是把电子产品换成了应用软件，也算适应时代的需要了。如今的app，琳琅满目，五花八门，每一款都有自己的独特之处，比如笔者最常用的就有微信，大众点评，手机淘宝，嘀嘀打车等等。我相信大家也有自己喜欢的几款应用，并对他们了如指掌。但在这里，我要提醒各位考生描述应用的内容时，最好能按照一定的顺序，让考官能听出层次感;在描述各种功能的时候，能够适当添加例子，或者给出一定的功能解释，不要让考官听的云里雾里。接下来，我以‘微信’这款应用软件，和大家探讨一下这道题目的答题思路。
　　范文：
　　These years, various kinds of apps are popping into people’s eyes every
single day, for study, entertainment and office work. Among these apps, what I
consider as the most useful is called Wechat. (开篇两句话，说出自己要描述的应用软件)
　　I downloaded this app about two years ago. At first I thought it was just
for communicating, like sending instant messages to my friends and vice
versa.(最初印象，和后面做对比)Afterwards, I found it more
great assistant for my social life.(第一个功能：社交) For example, there is an awesome
function called ‘Discovery’, which is similar to Facebook or Twitter. In there I
can post my feelings through words or a group of pictures, sometimes I would
like to share my favorite pop songs or movie clips.(举例说明如何使用‘发现’)Besides, Wechat
enables me to buy daily necessities, transfer money and top up my phone bill.
Last year when I travelled to Hongkong for my holiday, I bought a special air
ticket through Wechat, which saved me a lot of money. (进一步描述其他功能，并给出小例子)
　　As this app is updated periodically, I found it so practical that I can’t
even live without it. (再次强调自己认为这款应用很有用处)Every day I have been used to send and
receive messages or funny pictures. Moreover, the high quality games like Angry
Birds and LinkLink are terrific, which is a good way to release me from intense
