最近刚好在阅读一些关于中式英语的资料，在这里说一下我对中式英语的看法吧。&br&&br&&p&&strong&1.什么是中式英语&/strong&&/p&&br&&p&琼·平卡姆在《中式英语之鉴》一书中对中式英语有这样的定义：&/p&&br&&blockquote&&p&Chinglish, of course, is that misshapen, hybrid language that is neither English nor Chinese but that might be described as &English with Chinese characteristics.&&/p&&/blockquote&&br&&p&由这个定义引申开来，通常意义上的中式英语是指中国的英语学习者由于受到汉语影响，在口语和写作中产生的主观编造、生搬硬套一种英语。它与英语语言的规则和英语国家的文化习惯相悖。使用中式英语可能会阻碍正常的沟通，甚至造成误会。因此，我们有必要了解一下中式英语产生的原因，表现以及解决方案。&/p&&br&&p&&strong&2.中式英语是怎么产生的，有哪些表现？&/strong&&/p&&br&&p&对于中式英语的成因，有学者提出了“语言迁移”理论，即学习者会习惯用母语的思维和语言习惯去套用目标语，假如母语和目标语的差异过大，就很容易在语言应用中产生错误。&/p&&br&&p&汉语与英语分属两种不同语系, 前者属于汉藏语系, 而后者属于印欧语系。两者间的巨大差异会导致学习者在习得语言过程中受到母语的负迁移作用，从而出现一系列语言应用问题。&/p&&br&&p&具体来讲，中式英语现象主要体现在以下几个方面：&/p&&br&&p&(1) 词汇应用&/p&&br&&p&在词汇应用上，中式英语主要有这几种表现形式：词汇误用、搭配不当、用词累赘。&/p&&br&&p&就英语和汉语而言，汉语词汇概念较笼统，英语词汇表达的意义则非常细腻丰富，汉语中的一个词往往对应着几个英语单词。如果我们对单词本身的理解不够透彻，仅凭单词的中文释义来推测其使用语境，就会造成词汇误用。比如要表达“你能介绍一本好书给我吗？”，初学者容易望文生义，直接写成 Could you introduce me a good book?
在这里学习者对 introduce 的理解出现了偏差。单词虽然带有“介绍”的含义，但它的使用语境一般是人与人之间的互相介绍、引荐。在这里更合适的说法是 Can you recommend a good book?
&/p&&img src=&/90c5cbd8a4ebaa8d1226946_b.png& data-rawwidth=&600& data-rawheight=&344& class=&origin_image zh-lightbox-thumb& width=&600& data-original=&/90c5cbd8a4ebaa8d1226946_r.png&&&br&&p&我曾经在一篇作文中看到过这样的句子：&/p&&br&&p&Facing various kinds of pressure, college students shouldn't force themselves to do things out of their ability. &/p&&br&&p&这个句子是不是读起来很别扭？ 其中一个原因是 &force& 的误用。结合句子的语境来理解，这里要表达的意思应该是“大学生不应该强迫自己做超出能力范围外的事情”，force sb to do sth 带有“强迫某人做（不好的）事情”的含义，用在这里太过生硬，可以修改为：&/p&&br&&p&Facing various kinds of pressure, college students shouldn't push themselves too hard.&/p&&br&&p&对同个单词的变化形式理解不到位，也会出现误用的情况。比如有这样一个例子：Left alone in the dark corridor, she felt very dangerous. 作者本来是想表达“在漆黑的走廊里，她感觉自身处境很危险”，但写出来的英文含义却变成了“在漆黑的走廊里，她感觉自己是个危险”。这里属于对 dangerous, danger 这两个词的理解不到位而产生的误用。He / She is dangerous 真正含义是“他/她在某方面对其他人构成威胁”，要表达“某人处于危险境地中”，我们可以说 He / She is in great danger. &/p&&br&&p&比起词汇误用，搭配不当是一个更加常见的问题。英文中对于词语之间的搭配有很多约定俗成的规则，而这些规则与汉语中的搭配规则并不一致。比如汉语中我们会说“学习知识”，在英语里面则没有 learn knowledge 这样的说法，而应该说 gain / acquire knowledge. &/p&&br&&p&要表达“在过去数码产品的价格很贵，以至于很多家庭都负担不起”，初学者容易写成 In the past the prices of digital products were so expensive that most families could not afford them.
句子中的 prices 只能与 high, low, moderate 等搭配，而不能与&expensive&搭配（expensive 用来指物品本身而不是价格），因此句子可以改为 In the past the prices of digital products were so high ... 或者 In the past digital products were so expensive ...&/p&&br&&p&用词累赘几乎是每个英语学习者都会碰到的问题。汉语的一个特点是注重文采，写作者往往不惜笔墨反复强调以加深所表达的意思, 而英语则与此相反，主张言简意赅。初学者容易将中文逐词逐句翻译成英文，在用词上很容易出现重复。比如在考场作文中，我们经常会见到这样的句子：&/p&&br&&p&(1) In my opinion, I think the production and sale of fake commodities should be firmly banned.&/p&&p&(2) Scientists are trying to find a solution to solve the problem of water shortage.&/p&&p&(3) There are more than 200 guests take part in their wedding ceremony.&/p&&br&&p&第一个句子中&In my opinion& 以及 &I think& 两个表达意思重复了，单词&ban&本身就带有“严格禁止”的意味，再加一个副词是画蛇添足。此外，fake commodity 也不太符合主流英文里对“虚假商品”的说法，可以改成 &counterfeit goods&。&/p&&br&&p&第二个句子中 &solution&,&solve& 两个单词意思重复了，可以去掉其中一个，比如说：Scientists are trying to find a solution to the problem of water shortage. &/p&&br&&p&第三个句子中作者想表达“有超过200名客人参加了他们的婚礼”，于是使用了熟悉的 there be 句型，但太过啰嗦（而且还出现了语法错误）。结合语境来看，这里可以直接写 More than 200 guests attend their wedding ceremony. &/p&&br&&p&对国内的学习者来说，介词的使用一直是一个难点，用好介词能够极大减少用词累赘的现象。比如我们可能会见到这样的句子：I was invited to attend her birthday party last night.
其实它可以精简为 I was invited to her birthday party last night.
句子中介词&to&本身就带有“参与”的意味，不需要再加其他动词。&/p&&br&&p&(2) 句式和语篇&/p&&br&&p&汉语和英语两种语言背后的思维模式有不少差异。比如汉语中更加倾向于人的主体性，作为这种理念的一个反映，我们会发现中文句子常常以人作为主语，而英语句子常常以实物或抽象概念等客体作为主语。这种差异导致我们在写英文时句式的选择经常会出现问题。&/p&&br&&p&举个例子，要表达“我突然间想到了一个好主意”，我们可能会写 I suddenly got a good idea. 英语母语人士可能会写 A good idea occurred to me. 由此可以看出两种句式的差异。&/p&&br&&p&新概念英语3里面有这样一个场景：主人公在搭错列车后忽然间意识到车子开得很慢。在这里作者并不是写 &I suddenly realized...& 而是说 &It suddenly dawned on me that this express was not roaring down the line at ninety miles an hour, but barely chugging along at thirty.& 其中的句式 It dawned on me that... 就很好反映了英语表达的重点，即强调“发生了什么事”，而汉语表达的重点则是“谁做了什么”。&/p&&br&&p&除了主体和客体的区别之外，汉语和英语句式的区别还体现在句子之间的连接上。汉语注重意合，讲究形散而神不散，词语或语句间的连接主要凭借语义或语句间的逻辑关系来实现，不用或少用连接手段。英语注重形合，句子往往结构层次清晰，语法严谨。要表达复杂的思想时，通过借助介词、连词、关系代词、分词等语言形式手段，增加短语、分词、分句等附加成分将句子扩展并连接起来。下面这个例子就很好说明了英语句式的特点：&/p&&br&&blockquote&&p&At its core, finance does just two simple things. It can act as an economic time machine, helping savers transport today's surplus income into the future, or giving borrowers access to future earnings now. It can also act as a safety net, insuring against floods, fires or illness. By providing these two kinds of service, a well-tuned financial system smooths away life's sharpest ups and downs, making an uncertain world more predictable.&/p&&/blockquote&&br&&p&上面的几个句子结构层次非常清晰，连接也非常自然：段首第一句概括金融的特点，第二句和第三句进行展开，最后一句进行总结。整个段落的结构层次可以用一个思维导图来表示：&/p&&br&&img src=&/5f688cc3e8bae03dbde7abd_b.png& data-rawwidth=&1046& data-rawheight=&367& class=&origin_image zh-lightbox-thumb& width=&1046& data-original=&/5f688cc3e8bae03dbde7abd_r.png&&&br&&p&英语和汉语句子在结构和连接上的差异也是中式英语产生的一个重要原因。比如，我们可能会看到这样的句子：&/p&&br&&p&On the other hand, some people can't afford such a high price of maintaining a house, they would rent or buy a tiny apartment to live their daily life.&/p&&br&&p&句子出现的问题是缺乏连接词以及赘述。&some people can’t afford such a high price of maintaining a house& 可以精简为 some people can’t afford to maintain a house 此外，它与下一个句子之间应该是因果联系，因此可以使用连接词进行连接，整个句子修改为：&/p&&br&&p&On the other hand, since some people can’t afford to maintain a house, they would rent or buy a tiny apartment to live their daily life.&/p&&br&&p&(3) 文化意识&/p&&br&&p&语言与文化密不可分，中西方文化的差异往往能在写作语言上得到体现，一个典型的例子是议论文写作的结尾部分。汉语文章有一个特点：在结尾处会对主题进行升华，比如带有“我们应该”、“我们必须”、“让我们”等教训式或口号式内容。这种文风特点会对英文写作造成影响，很多学生在作文的最后一句会这样写：&/p&&br&&p&Only in this way can we build a harmonious society.&/p&&br&&p&或者是&br&&/p&&br&&p&Let's devote our love and make the world a better place.&/p&&br&&p&而对于英语母语人士来说，文章结尾一般是对文章主要内容进行概述、补充，或者向读者提出具体的建议或鼓励。比如这样的结尾：&/p&&br&&p&Following all this advice, you may not automatically become a successful student, but you will surely be on the right track to succeed. &/p&&br&&p&或者是&/p&&br&&p&In summary, I regret to admit that experience shows sports do little to overcome mutual national stereotypes or promote peace between nations.&br&&/p&&br&&p&&strong&3.怎样减少中式英语现象？&/strong&&/p&&br&&p&需要明确的一点是，对于母语为汉语的学习者来说，要想完全避免汉语的影响几乎是不可能的。我们只能减少中式英语现象，但很难将其杜绝。为了少犯中式英语错误，我们需要培养这几个习惯：&/p&&br&&p&(1) 大量阅读原版材料，积累常见表达&/p&&br&&p&正如很多人所说，阅读可以培养“语感”。这种“语感”其实就是对英文常见搭配和句型的熟悉程度。比如对于这个句子：&/p&&br&&p&Hardly a week goes by ____ some food scare being reported in the media.&/p&&br&&p&对英文足够熟悉的同学很快会反应过来，划线的地方应该填&without&，因为 Scarcely/Hardly a day/week/month goes by without... 是英文中经常出现的固定表达，它的含义是“几乎每天 / 每周 / 每月都……” 。我们对这种常见短语和句型掌握得越多，表达就会越地道，而要掌握更多的地道表达，阅读是必经之路。&/p&&br&&p&阅读原版材料最大的好处在于，我们会潜移默化地吸收英语世界里最常用，对母语人士而言最为自然的表达方式。比如你在阅读中会了解到，“赞扬某事的优点”应该是 extol the virtues of sth 而不是 praise the virtues of sth，“发动战争”应该是 wage war on sb/sth，“磨练技能”应该说 sharpen/hone your skill ...
