原级是用来形容一个事物的特征的（对比的对象通常是“大众”），而比较级则是用来与另外一个特指事物进行比较，相对而言，更加...样。最高级则是在一定范围内，与所有的事物比较，此特征最明显的。例：原级：He is tall.(他长得高)与大众相比他比较高比较级：He is taller than me(他比我高)与特指的人（我）来比较。最高级：He is the tallest in our class(他是我们班中最高的)与“班中”这个范围中的所有人比较，他是最高的。
