This is yet another example of how the Tea Party will replace one set of dishonest, business as usual candidates with another set of dishonest, business as usual candidates beholden to Sarah Palin.

Sarah Palin’s Joe Miller Used Tax-Paid Resources for Politics, Now Trying to Hide Records From Public
When a candidate, who runs on the idea of “open and honest government” and an end to business as usual, then goes to court to keep the public from seeing public records about his unethical, dishonest behavior, you have to wonder.
And , Sarah Palin’s hand-picked GOP candidate for U.S. Senate from Alaska.
I’m all for getting rid of establishment, dynasty Republicans like Lisa Murkowski–whom Miller deposed in the Alaska Republican primary, and against whom he is now running as she mounts her write-in campaign.
But Joe Miller now makes clear with his latest actions that he’s as dishonest and unethical as every creature of the inside-the-Beltway types he claims he’s running against.
In fact, what Joe Miller is trying to hide is that, while on the public payroll as a government attorney for an Alaska borough, he used government resources for political activity.
And even though Judge Winston Burbank ruled, Saturday, that the public is entitled to see these public records, Miller’s lawyer says he is considering appealing.
Hey, just like Obama and the liberals:
A judge ruled Saturday that the Fairbanks North Star Borough must release personnel records of U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller. . . .
The case was brought by a group of Alaska news media organizations, which have been trying since summer to see borough documents concerning Miller’s employment as a part-time borough attorney.
Miller, the Republican nominee for Senate in a tight three-way race, fought the lawsuit, arguing that any release of personnel records violated his privacy rights. . . .
A former borough mayor, Jim Whitaker, has said Miller was disciplined for violating the borough’s ethics policy in his use of borough computers for political purposes.
Miller acknowledged that in an interview on CNN earlier this week . . . .
Whitaker served as borough mayor during most of that period and told reporters on Oct. 13 that Miller had used borough computers for political purposes in 2008 when he organized a failed effort to oust state Republican Party Chairman Randy Ruedrich.
Whitaker said Miller was disciplined for the violation of the borough’s ethics code.
Yup, this is open, honest government advocate Sarah Palin’s man for the U.S. Senate.
Sorry, but if this is the kind of “conservative” the Tea Party is putting up, you’ll never clean house in Washington.
If Joe Miller illegally used taxpayer resources for his own personal political activities in Alaska, he’ll do it in Washington, too.
A crook is a crook, no matter on which side of the aisle he or she resides.
And, clearly, Joe Miller is crooked.
That’s why he and his lawyer are trying to keep the world from knowing about it.

That’s the kind of guy conservatives endorse with the excuse, “the Democrats are worse.”
Yet its the reason I don’t expect much to change in Washington next year even if the GOP manages to take over Congress from the Democrats.

There will be no change after this election.
Because more people are collecting gov mint goodies than people working to pay for those goodies, the trends will be the same.
Voters vote for those giving away freebees.
WE are on the fast track to irreversible socialism which always ends in dictatorship.

You’re right.
As it is, there is an easy way to fix this mess–but it will probably never happen.
The main problem is the notion of politics as a career.
This simply has to be destroyed, as there is no possibility of a solution with this in place.
All career politicians are scumbags–there are no exceptions whatsoever, and there never will be.
At the moment, the fact that someone wants to run for office should automatically disqualify him.
Impose absolute term limits, with the only road to future office being a step up–and even then, limit this so that members can only be in for two terms, and senators for one term.
Disallow all campaigning outside of uniform broadcast/print spots that are paid for by the government–and which must meet strict standards–independently verified.
As to presidential primaries, limit this to a single national primary.
There is no earthly reason for the endless campaign season.
Any fool can see that the system is broken.
Please note that “heroes” claimed by either side are deeply flawed.
Examples…
FDR is still claimed as a hero by all Democrats despite the reality of his record.
One of the very few good things he ever did was drive the repeal of Prohibition.
Reagan is viewed as a hero by the our side, and he too got a good start by breaking a govt union and lowering taxes.
But then, he raised taxes and created giant deficits–not to mention letting Bork swing in the wind.
God knows why so-called conservatives lionize the likes of Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt…
As I have often said, there are no more than ten good presidents in our entire history–and Coolidge was the latest.
Note that I am defining “good” as being more than just better than the other crook.

I’m not saying that Joe Miller is correct, but the ruling that the public’s right to know about candidates outweighs Miller’s right to privacy was by retired Superior Court Judge Winston Burbank, who was appointed by Senator Lisa Murkowski’s father.
There might have been a conflict of interest on Judge Burbank’s part.

NormanF, your right dude, if the Republicans take over the house and senate next month, don’t expect too much change, it’ll more likely be like how it was for eight straight years under Bush, now me saying that, does that mean I want Obama and his fellow-travelling Democrat minions to continue to move this country towards the far left?

And I think the reason why some of us conservatives are being fooled and duped by some of these candidates on the GOP side is that many of the so-called conservative sites are NOT reporting the exact truth of some of these candidates and that goes for some of the tea party candidates who are running as republicans.
And I bet that if I or any of us on this site report this story to any of the other right-wing sites, the posters on those sites are going to call us every word under the sun, and call us conspiracy-theorist, liberals, communist, socialist, traitors, etc., and that’s why I no longer post on the other conservative websites, because all they do is carry the water for the GOP!

They’re virtually all a bunch of crooks just sinking their snouts into the public trough.
How many of these politicians rejected stimulus money?
In spite of all their talk, none that I know completely rejected it.
These ‘right”wing’ governors didn’t reject it, or else, their rejection was symbolic, and temporary (or they know their rejection would be overturned by local legislative bodies, so it was just for show).
There have been reliable reports in recent days that some of the leading tea party reps in Congress such as Michelle Bachmann made request for stimulus handouts.
Woe to the taxpayers.

Joe Miller is creepy he had a reporter arrested by his private security guards.
I don’t care what side is doing it, freedom of press is in the constitution, the same constitution Miller talks end lessly about.
He probably knows as much about the constitution as Christine O’donell.
It would be easy to make a case that I am a liberal but I’ve never voted for a democrat in my life and that includes this election, I’m an absentee balloter.
I’ve just become completly disillusioned with the rights hypocrisy and their defense of the big banks and bp.

I’m also mad at the right for not saying a word about shipping our jobs over seas.
I see ad after ad on television and nothing gets mentioned about anything I care about all they do is talk about the debt level and attack the opponent.
I heard a republican running for office say Americans are too good to make their own products, we should focus on technology and something else but I forgot.
That pathetic.
America is truly turning into a third world country and we have the highest richest to poor ratio of the civilized world.
Tell a person earning a couple grand a year their to good to manufacture something or that illegals only do jobs they won’t do.

I don’t know about Miller, but I can assure you that no one can grow to be an adult in the US without breaking some law. If you look at employment law, you will find that the only reason that you get fired is because you crossed management. The reason given for the firing is not the real entity. In my situation, I was fired from a medical school for Medicare fraud. That sounds horrible but what occured was the loss of 50 patient records by the hospital staff, an daily occurance, and something I had no control of. The amount in dispute was $1000. Yet the real reason for being fired was that I would not falsify clinical trial records for the hospital. Needless to say this is in court, but the laws don’t work so it is anyone’s guess as to where it will go.

Tyler, you got a point bro, I live in New York, I’m a little pissed at Carl Paladino for NOT putting out tv ads against his opponent Andrew Cuomo, and not bringing up illegal-immigration in NY (mainly in the 5 boroughs where I live and in Nassau & Suffolk county), I would take Paladino over Cuomo, because Cuomo is like Obama, who supports higher taxes on those who work for a living and pay taxes, support a welfare state in NY, apart of the subprime mortgage scandal in the late 1990s, etc.
I understand where your coming from Tyler, and so far none of the GOP candidates and the tea party candidates haven’t mentioned the main problem with this country, “IMMIGRATION”, I understand the economy is the situation, but illegal-immigration ties into our slumping and inept economy.

Off topic a little, but it really bugs the hell out of me how Palin calls the president Mr. Obama on the stump. It just grates me inside for some reason. I cannot stand the Obama brand, but the president is the president. I believe they should be addressed as such..
I did not think the Miller thing was a big deal in the beginning. I had read he fought to have the information from being released.. I just hate that stuff, reeks of corruption.

Sorry about what happened to you re the clinical trials, etc.
If the public had any idea how bad the quality control is on these trials, they would probably be afraid to take any new drug.
(And maybe they should be.)
I know an IM doc who did hard federal time for simply working at a clinic in which the owner did not have the proper licensing.
Only in the US could we spend so much on health care, and yet have it be so screwed up.
For those of you who think our system is the “best,” keep drinking the Kool-Aid.

I think the big issue here is not that Miller might be hiding something by not revealing personal records but why is the law jumping on Miller for this and not Obama who has hidden every scrap of his records including his proper birth certificate. Miller might have misused government computers but what crimes are hidden in Obama’s records?
What does that have to do with the price of tea in China?
This is a race in Alaska, NOT Hawaii.
One has nothing to do with the other.
The big issue is, in fact, Miller hiding something.
But nice try with your two wrongs make a right BS.

In anticipation of the reply postings on our health care system not being the best…
1. The cartel “Match” system artificially limits access to a resident’s desired specialty.
2. Residents–despite being the cornerstone of the hospital system–make no money (around $40K), and work about 100 hours per week.
Often more, but they must lie about it on time sheets.
You want a sleep-deprived resident working on you?
3. Emphasis on specialization has–oddly enough–destroyed many specialties, as para-professionals are brought in (because they are cheaper).
This is especially prevalent in anesthesiology.
You really want a nurse giving you that dose which you may never wake up from?
4. Emphasis on pharmaceutical drugs has turned internal medicine (IM) into little more than a silly numbers game, whereby your blood is checked for various parameters, and if you are out of range, are prescribed a drug.
Nearly every adult over 50 will thus have some “need” for a drug, not to mention many people younger than this.
Note that there is absolutely no evidence that this sort of numbers management (with drugs only) has any beneficial outcome.
This has become a national scandal with respect to statins, hypotensives, and hypoglycemics.
Ever wonder why the numbers for diabetes, cholesterol, and high blood pressure keep being lowered?
Maybe it’s so there will be more people who “need” these drugs.
Boomerang effect exists whereby obese diabetics, for example, will be on a drug like Avandia, and then there is the finding that it increases heart disease.
This is pure BS.
What is really happening is that the fatties don’t change their lifestyle, thinking that the drug has cured them.
Thus, they get the heart disease they have so earnestly been working on.
5. Emphasis on expensive diagnostics has become a sick joke.
If you sprain your ankle, you might get an MRI.
Because they can bill it, that’s why.
6. Social engineering by med schools has produced far too many incompetent doctors.
This is exacerbated by the incredible loopholes that allow bad docs to keep practicing.
Tip of the iceberg, folks.

I agree with Mr. Bill. I think you are jumping to conclusions. Maybe there is something there, but I’d like to see some evidence before we hang the guy.
Uh, you WON’T see the evidence b/c Sarah Palin’s Joe Miller is fighting in court with lawyers to keep the public from seeing it.
That’s kinda the point, which a tea party/Palin blind follower like yourself doesn’t bother to get.
Giant hint:
Does a person hire lawyers and go to court to keep the public from seeing public records about merely voting on a computer?

I’m very disappointed with Joe Miller because some of his siblings are my friends and I was happy when he won the GOP nomination over Lisa Murkowski.
And now, the skeletons are falling out of his cupboard, he’s hiding something just like the big-O. He’s no different from the others!! I should have realized he’s just another politician when he was hand picked by Sarah Palin.
