　　O/D挡(Over-Drive)的意思是自动档车型的超速挡，以最普遍的四前速自动挡变速箱为例，第三挡就是超速挡，它的齿比约在0.5-0.7之间，相当于手排的5挡。　　先看看某些自动排的排挡编排，一般是P-R-N-D-2-1，没有三挡原因就是有O/D开关，按下排挡头上的O/D按钮，此时仪表盘上O/D OFF灯亮，即4挡被锁，即车子最高只能使用3挡而去不到4挡。　　而其他一些自动挡车的挡位编排多是P-R-N-D4-D3-2-1，正因为它设了D3挡，所以无需再设O/D开关了。　　实际上它们只是设计方式不同，作用则是一样的。
