考克斯使用全世界最大的真空室来进行这个实验，第一次实验他先在没有真空的情况下，将保龄球还有羽毛同时升起来，就如大家所想，在丢下去的瞬间，保龄球先掉了下来，反观羽毛还在空中飘啊飘。但第二次实验整个空间变成了真空状态，这次再把两样实验品丢下来，结果将会出乎你的想像。
原来在真空的环境当中，轻飘飘的羽毛和这么重的保龄球，是会同时一起抵达地面的，虽然原理大致上是理解，但是看到实验后还是觉得很不真实！
