　　学校现有38个教学班，教职工108人，学生2018名。学校秉承“为每位学生”的办学理念，按照“素质教育的示范、改革实验的窗口、名牌教师的舞台、优秀学生的摇篮”这一目标定位，积极探索适应新课程改革理念的现代教育教学管理模式，形成了“追求卓越、崇尚一流”的人文精神、“严格、精细、扎实、高效”的教学风格、健康多彩的校园文化和充实快乐的寄宿生活特色。
　　学校地处宝鸡市西关，南临渭水，北倚陵塬，校园环境幽雅，空气清新，绿树成荫，群楼环抱，成立当年被评为宝鸡市“绿色文明学校，2005年通过“省级示范初中”评估验收。
　　宝鸡市第一中学占地35170多平方米，其中操场10170多平方米，各类建筑面积23500多平方米。有办公楼、教学楼、图书楼、、多功能厅等教学设施，并配先进的理化生实验室、电视直播室、计算机教室、电子阅览室、多媒体阶梯教室等现代化视听设施。
　　其中，逸夫图书楼建筑面积1627M2，总投资173万元，楼体为玻璃幕墙式四层建筑，室内一层设有书库和图书查寻借阅处，二层设有报刊阅览室，三层设有3个讲座室和1个教师阅览室，四层为380人的大型讲座室兼多媒体投影教室。图书楼藏书5万余册，报纸杂志300多种。
　　校园网采用先进的德特威勒综合布线系统,通过10M光纤接入Internet，1000兆光纤覆盖全校，实现了全部教室和办公室与互联网的高速连接。
