DONT USE ALCOHOL TO CLEAN YOUR NAVAL PIERCING ...IT WAS HURT IT BECAUSE IT IS TOO STRONG AND WILL DRY IT OUT AND BECOME INFECTED.

Hey you, a piercing can take ages to heal and it can possibly reject ( grow out ). I'm always suprised that ppl have their piercings and ask questions after. A discharge is normal, after all your body is trying to form a flesh tunnel around a foreign object, not your normal type of injury.The only place for the dead cells to emerge from is the openings

If you have u ears pierced...you may also ear antiseptic cleaner...(the stuff they give you to clean newly pierced ears)...it doesnt contain alcohol...and will clean your navel piercing

Hey I just got my belly button pierced yesterday, and since I've been cleaning it with Dial liquid soap, Bactine, and warm water, it has done fine and it hasn't been that sore.&&Good luck, hope it looks as good as mine!!

It does NOT hurt to get your belly button pierced i just got mine last Thursday , you will be VERY nervous! but if u have&&a phobia of needles DONT look at the NEEDLE! it might freak you out , the piercing just feels like some one poking you or getting your ears pierced.

I just got my navel pierced 2 weeks ago for the 2x and&&YES IT DOES HURT!! not a big pain,but its a quick sting. The 2x hurt more than the first.My piercing did get infected but i'vebeen using the sea salt and its looking better everyday. WORD OF ADVICE, DONT USE ALCOHOL to clean the piercing,,stick to the dial and sea salt.

my mate does piercing, and he pierced my belly button, but i left a safety pin in there for a couple of weeks, and now its discoloured. i used to clean it with neosporin, but now i just clean it with saline soloution and antibacterial soap, but does that means that its infected? should i take it out, id rather not, but if i have to, i guess i will

You shouldn't use neosporian to clean it.&&Just use the sea salt, and diluted dial soap.&&I just got my piercing today and I swear I couldn't even feel the clamp or the needle go in, and I personaly don't like needles.&&If you want to do it just go&&for it its really not that bad.&&

I got my navel pierced about a week and a half ago.&&It didn't hurt much...the pinch of the clamp was almost more than the needle, which was no worse than getting an earring at the mall.&&Afterwards it's been a bit tender, but only actually hurt if poked or snagged.&&That's improving already, though.
Recommended aftercare at the shop I went to consisted of 10-minute soaks with a solution of sea salt (1/4 tablespoon to 8 oz. water, preferably distilled) twice daily, and that was pretty much it.
I found a lot more information at the site for the Association of Professional Piercers. They recommend that the sea salt solution be warm or hot, and stronger (more salt) is not better since that may burn the piercing.&&The APP also says to clean the piercing once a day with a mild, liquid antibacterial soap and rinse thoroughly after using a sea salt soak to loosen any crusted matter.
Never touch your piercing without washing your hands first.&&Don't wear tight or restrictive clothing during healing, and keep both clothes and sheets clean.&&It might be helpful not to sleep on the piercing during healing (I found it too tender to sleep on my stomach as I usually do).&&A hard, vented eyepatch can be used over the piercing to shield it from too-tight clothing or sports activities.&&Secure it with an Ace bandage since adhesive can irritate the area.
Do NOT use:&&alcohol, isodine, Neosporin, or bandaids.&&If you suspect your piercing has become seriously infected, leave the jewelry in and go see a doctor...if you take out the jewelry the skin may heal over the infection, causing an abcess.

i got my belly button pierced in December it was doing really good until just a few days ago it started to get really irritable and really bothering me. Until finally it migrated down to the lower hole and there was barely any skin between the two holes.i really am not happy bc i loved my piercing and i had to take it out before it completely ripped my bellybutton.i'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else? and what you did about it. and if u should get it re-pierced? it'd be great if u could get back to me. thanks.u can email me at .thanks guys !

hey. i got mine done at the beginning of june. it doesn't hurt very bad at all. it really feels like someone poked you in the stomach. whatever you do, don't use alcohol unless you're cleaning a new ring to put in it after it's okay to change it. alcohol dries it out and it can actually make it hurt worse. peroxide can be used, but the guy who did mine warned me not to use peroxide. get some dial antibacterial soap and dilute it with water and wash it that way. and if you have contacts, rinse it with saline solution as often as you want. it keeps the cruddy stuff from forming. and don't change your ring before they say you can! it can hurt you really bad! but always clean the new ring with alcohol before you put a new one in!!!

i had my belly pierced a bout a week ago personally i wouldn't av it done a gain if it healed ova it didn't hurt wen i ad it done but about 5 mins later i pasted out from the pain if i was you if you want it done then after use salt water to clean it with it works a treat it might feel a bit sore after good luck

hello people.I am 12 years old and a few weeks ago i went to get my belly button pierced.I booked an appointment and everything,but when i arrived there,they told me i was too skinny.i was quite annoyed as i had been looking forward to it and i was annoyed that they had been stupid to book me an appointment in the first place.Anyway my two friends Jess and Sarah are not skinny but they have it done and they are both 12 also. All my friends say i should try another place and my mum isn't too sure about it now one place has turned me down.Do you think i should try again???

i got my bellybutton pierced two days ago, it wasn't sore at all, the clamp was just like a wee nip and then i didn't even feel the needle goin through and i have low pain barriers. (althought i was frozen) it was sore yesterday though and today, but less sore. I;m cleaning it with saline..it's started to crust but that means it's healing! it kinda hurts in the middle but what do you expect? it's a wound for crying out loud. check out APP for more info

hey i just got my belly pierced about 2 days ago ..mine hurt alot lol i needed to take a seat i thought id pass out but maybe i just have sensitive skin..i heard to clean your piercing with saline solution..epsom salt mixed with warm water and dial soap ..i also heard not to use peroxcide because it makes it really itchy

Hey everybody. I had my bellybutton pierced on June 22, 2004, and it is healing alright. For anyone that wants to have it done, I promise that it doesn't hurt that bad. I, literally, have a negative pain tolerance, and I was fine. If you are still skeptical, have a friend go with you, and ask them to let you go first. That is what I did, and I can tell you, if I had seen it be done first, there is no way I would have done it. Then, after you have it pierced, take really good care of it. Wash it twice a day, not more. Do not touch it with your bare hands, if they have not been cleaned. Most importantly, do not change your piercing until it is ready. I went and bought jewlery the other day, and have been wanting to change it, but I know that I will have to wait at least another 1 to 2 months. It may be hard, but in the end you will be glad, and your piercing will look much better for much longer.

I Got My Belly Button Pierced Like 2 and A Half Weeks Ago.. And It's Doing Great!It's A LITTTLE Red Around The Top Hole, But The Soreness Has Gone Away Totally I Tell Everyone to Go For It.. The Anticipation Is The Wortst.. Cuz You DOn't Know Wut To Expect.. It DOes't Hurt At All.. the Clamps Hurt More Then The Needle!! The Needle Is A Shocker When Yo uSee It.. Just Ignore It and Tal kTo Someone While Thy're Doing It!.. Good Luck!
Oh And DO NOT Clean It With Alcohol OOR Peroxyde, It Can Make It Worse.. Go To The DrugStore And Get Some Saline Solution And Clean It Twice A Day, It'll Heal Right Up! Guarentee!
And Don't Change It Before It's COMPLETELY Healed!

I got my navel pierced oh about 3 months ago and its fine. A little discolored but that was from a recent infection. The best way to get rid of infections is saline! It works miracles.

I got my navel pierced 7/28. Let me tell you it didnt hurt me at all and since i am not allergic to any types of metals I just picked a normal banana barbell. Yes new piercings do get red yes they itch and yes they put a whiteish yellowish pus LOOKING discharge but it is not pus it is the sign of a healing wound which is the belly piercing. If you r thinking about getting it u should its so pretty n beautiful. Muah much love

ok my piercing was just recently infected and thank god i didn't listen to other people. OK what to do.... clean it with clear antibacterial soap two times daily...soak it in sea salt 3 times daily if infected. if not 3-5 times a week. there ya go there is my info..oh yeah it doesn't really hurt at all.

Hey, I have my belly button pierced and have had it done for about a month.&&As dumb as this sounds I did mine myself...and no, not have one of my friends do it, I did it myself.&&It kind of hurt because it was the 3rd time it had been done so there was some scar tissue there, but I also didn't use clamps or anything, I just shoved a (sterile) needle through it and then pulled the needle out, and put the belly ring through the hole.&&Then, like three hours later, it started to swell up and get really red, and I didn't know what to do.&&Then about an hour after that it started to get hives around it, so I switched the belly ring to a 14k gold instead of the surgical steel one that was in it before, cleaned it, and when I woke up the next morning, it was perfectly fine.&&I actually had an allergic reaction to the other belly ring.&&Ever since then I've cleaned it every day twice a day with sea salt, hot water, and antibacterial soap.&&Just whatever you do, don't use Neosporin, hydrogen peroxide, or alcohol.&&My sister used Neosporin on hers when she got it done (she got hers done professionally) and all the Neosporin did was build up in there and make her piercing swell up.

I just got mine re pierced a few weeks ago bacause my first one migrated out. The dude that did mine the first time just told me to lay back and count to 3 and it was over. My second time hurt worse because I had scar tissue but he also said that the scar tissue may keep it from migrating this time.

Hi Marissa! i got mine dun wiv titanium. it wont get infected wiv titanium, cos your skin wont stick to it as it wud wiv silver. Gold is ok, but silver reacts wiv your skin n makes 'silver salt' which makes it painful. p.s it hardly hurt at all! clean it twice a day n it shouldnt get infected. good luck!

i got mine done two days ago and it did not't hurt at all.. however it depends on the piercer and if he or she does it right.. as well as if you have a low or high pain threshold... 1) if you have ever gotten a tattoo no sweat,, this will feel like a pinch and if not.. it will feel like an uncomfortable pinch... i for one i did not't feel it at all and 2) remember to breathe and relax

Getting your belly button pierced does not hurt at all. I got mine done last monday and it didnt hurt at all and the guy didnt numb it or anything. i was scared at first but it was over before i knew it. it just feels like someone pulling your skin for a second. get it done, it is totally worth it.

i have advice for u ppls. NEVER EVER EVER put a safety pin in any new pericing! they are made wit a certain kind of metal that can give u some disease (lockjaw??) which can paralyze u. and it can give infections not as drastic but its still not a good idea.

well when u get your naval pieced it feels like a slite pinch nothing to big not to much blood or anyhting..just clean it 3 or 4 times a day with&&sea salt and antibacterial soap..i can not stress en ought do not use alcohol will dry the skin make it red and it will become infected..it takes about 6 months for the navel to fully heal but in 2 to 3 months can change the barbell only move the barbell when cleaning if u mess with it to much it could get infected and when u do clean your pircing make shure your hands are clean too. when cleaning it u may use a q-tip but gouse works much better and it's cleaner then a q-tip if their is anything els u would like to know about your new navel pircing u can e/mail me at

wow!way too many people wanting to get pierced who are like 12! Personally, i think you should wait until you are about 16, otherwise it could stretch as you grow and look really ugly! Trust me, it's not a pretty site. I got pierced in September and it's doing fine, just clean it and take care of it and you should be fine. DO NOT OVER CLEAN IT!!! that could promote infection!

It takes a year for your navel piercing to fully heal! Dont use rubbing alcohol on it, just clean it with soap (Dial is good) yes it is going to be read for about a month maybe even 2 months! But daa u just stuck a foreign object in your belly button! It will have crust around it just take a cotton swab and put warm water and soap on it and go around the ring. Its best to clean your navel ring in the shower! Its easer 2! I know how u guyz feel when i first got mine done i had these same problems! Its ok just give it time and clean it really good and dont play with it to much! clean your hands before u clean the ring! I have had mine pierced for about a year and i love it!

i'm15 & just pierced my navel about 5 days ago with a think curved needle. i then broke the ends off and put erasers on them so it doesn't poke me. it really hurts when i move or laugh or bend down. it looks normal tho...no infection as of yet...but i was just wondering if...because i did it myself if thats why its hurting or..if there is something wrong with it..
also i sometimes clean it with the brown stuff doctors put on their patients b4 surgery that turns your skin yellow...called betadine. i was wondering if that was helpful or not to it?

i got my ears pierced about 3 years ago then got an abcess on the back of my ear right in the corner where it attaches to my skull. i went to the doc n he told me to take them out and let it close up. then i got them done again in December and the abcess has come back. i cleaned it properly and everything so i don't know why or what it is. the doc will just tell me to take them out again but its not causing me any pain its just slightly irritating it being there. has anyone had a similar experience or can anyone suggest something i can do to get rid of it? just wanted 2 say i got my piercing done at marks & Punctures in aylesbury yesterday and he's really good there even got a lollypop afterwards. if you have any problems you can go along and get free advice from him and he can fix problem piercings for free aswell even if you didn't get them done there!

this is not about belly piercing, but ear lobes. i got mine Feb. 04 and now this year i have like a oval above the piercing and when i push it hard yellow discharge comes out of it. i had it for 5 months now, and i don't know how to get rid of it. I've just had my navel pierced 2 days ago. I use wound wash (spray) and then dry the navel area with kitchen roll. If you want to have a bath, it's best to have a hand full of sea salt/rock salt in the water.
Hope this helps. For those of you who are thinking about having your navel pierced, it's probably best (and safest) to go to a studio that was recommended to you by a friend or colleague. It doesn't hurt much at all if it's done properly. I was quite surprised when I had mine pierced, I hardly felt anything. Just make sure you are going to be able to persevere with the after care, as this can take several months!!!

Ok I wont lie to you.&&I'm a guy and I have my naval pierced.&&It hurt like hell.&&This guy didn't numb it or anything.&&I tried using the earing stuff but that seemed to irritate it when I moved around and stuff.&&I'm going to stick with the sea salt and the antibacterial soap from now on.

hey i just got my belly button pierced about 5 days ago.&&I am TERRIFIED of needles and honestly, this is nowhere near as painful as I expected.&&It only hurts a little bit when they are pushing the needle back out, and putting in the actual ring.&&It's true you shouldn't look at the needle, though.&&I looked after I got pierced and fainted b/c I couldn't believe I had actually let that thing get stuck through my navel..not even b/c it hurt at all.&&And if you look before (like I also did) it will only make you more nervous.&&Anyone who wants to get it done/..go for it!&&I did it and I have the lowest tolerance for pain of anyone I have ever met!

Well i'm concidering getting my navel peirced i've read all about it and the aftercare for it, i am deathly affrade of needles... so i'm not sure if i should, but since many people say it hurts about the same as getting your ears peirced i'll be fine...i can endure the pain...its the "needle shock" that i'm affrade of... i live in south dakota so is sioux falls a good place? or does anyone know a better place? if so please e-mail me at amanda_ THANK YOU SO MUCH!

ok i just got my belly button peirced 2 weeks ago and man was i nervious... but they made me feel so comfertable. Dont look at the needle! that will freak you out, it kinda hurt when he put in the needle but so many ppl sad that the after pain would be so much worse..... they were wrong it didnt even hurt unlease i hit it really hard

Getting your belly button pierced dosn'treally hurt at all I got mine done 6-22-05 and I didn't make a sound when I got mine done.And the clamp kind of numbs it so the needle dosn'treally hurt.It feels like your stomach getsreally tight and after they put your jewelry in it's over, you don't feel anything at all.K I hope that I helped.E-MAIL ME AT

When i was 12 i pierced my navel with a clothespin.. stupid huh? well now I'm14 and I'm getting it redone this summer. scars may appear or even a keloid (a small member on the body that's filled with multiplied skin cells. u can fix it with simple sea salt and water. put some sea salt in hot watter put it in a shotglass... and tip it upside-down on your navel for about 5 minutes. it kills unnecessary skin cells. discharge is normal. and with the organic sea salt treatment (OST) the keloid will go away withing 2-4 weeks. HOPE I HELPED!...and when i pierced my own i was stupid and iced my navel it took forever to get the needle through since i did it myself... i did a friend's too, hers got infected because she put lotion on it. But she's getting it redone this summer also.

I got my navel pierced five years ago. When you get it done you will feel a sharp nip when the needle goes through, but after that it will be fine as long as you clean it properly. Don't worry if it gets a bir red and inflamed, this will go away after a few weeks.

Well I'm a 12 year old female and I had a choice of getting my belly button pierced or get a tattoo. I picked the piercing. I am going to have it done tomorrow. I have talked to the lady that does it and she said wash it with peroxide 3 times daily. If any kind of crust forms over it use a type of mild disinfectant soap for skin for about 3 days or so. If the crust still keeps coming back go to the piercer or a doctor&&to get some special cream. Well I'm out.
