整个夏天，整个休赛季，骑士经历了太多的风风雨雨，先是总决赛的惨败，接着前总经理大卫—格里芬的被炒鱿鱼，后又是詹姆斯的“决定3”，最后又是全明星欧文的突然要求离队。都以为骑士就这么完了。但是没想到，欧文的出走，给骑士恰恰带来了转机，先后签下了罗斯、小托马斯、克劳德、韦德等悍将，以及日日奇等未来和2018年一个前五位的选秀权，骑士一下子就活了，实力大涨。只是有一点，那就是骑士的内线孱弱，一直没有得到解决，无论是软蛋乐福，还是被科勒—卡戴珊榨干的TT（特里斯坦—汤普森），在勇士不算强大的内线面前，屡屡吃瘪，TT抢篮板都抢不过矮一头多的库里，可想而知他们的内线了。所以，骑士管理层一直在盯着联盟的强力内线，先后与灰熊队的小加索尔、快船队的小乔丹、鹈鹕队的考辛斯、掘金队的法里德等内线传出绯闻。前段时间，骑士更是与灰熊队就小加索尔的交易谈判了好多次，无奈灰熊想要未来好的选秀权，双方不得不中断谈判。然而，半路杀出了程咬金，东部死敌凯尔特人，也打起了小加索尔的主意，凯子这几年在总经理安吉的经营下，短短几年恢复了重建，而且招揽下来欧文、霍福德、海沃德等全明星，加上未来N多选秀权，凯子前途一片光明。此次绿衫军想拿出几个选秀权来交易小加索尔，只要筹码适合，灰熊肯定交易，所以小加索尔未来就是在凯尔特人队，至于骑士，是彻底无缘了。就在骑士无望的时候，今天美媒记者报道，太阳队想交易走前全明星泰森—钱德勒，骑士已经就钱德勒交易情况与太阳取得了联系，并报了价，提出弗莱+二轮选秀权或香波特+二轮选取权来换取钱德勒。钱德勒虽然上了一定年纪，但是35岁的他状态依然不错，作为联盟曾经的顶级内线，钱德勒一直表现的很可以，上赛季依然可以拿到场均8.4分和11.5个篮板的近两双成绩。因为克劳德的崛起，将大前锋乐福挤到了中锋的位置，其实以乐福的状态、身板和特点，打中锋完全是吃苦、吃亏的，对方只要是强力、肉盾型内线，乐福只有挨打的份儿，不得不游走到三分线以外，那么骑士的内线将空了，哪有篮板和二次进攻的机会？如果钱德勒加盟的话，那么内线上将给骑士很大的帮助，面对勇士时，内线就不会那么吃瘪了。
