Punta del Este is full of design-minded hotels, trendy shops and celeb chef–helmed restaurants, but the Atlantico Hotel is the only boutique lodging near the city’s emblematic lighthouse and harbor, an area of stately residences just minutes from the shops and cafés of downtown. Owned by Tay Group, this contemporary 42-room property is housed in a four-story building from the 1960s that was completely renovated in early 2013. From the airy, whitewashed lobby, done up with pillow sofas and black-and-white photographs, to the lush garden, surrounded by climbing ivy, the vibe is relaxed and refined.
Bed and Bath
The Atlantico’s casually stylish rooms have blond hardwood floors, flat-screen TVs, minibars, Egyptian cotton linens and modern bathrooms. Many of them also have spacious balconies where guests can relax while admiring the ocean. The suites, which have kitchenettes, dining spaces and separate sofabeds, are perfect for families.
Every morning a buffet breakfast of medialunas (small, fluffy croissants), fresh fruit, tea and coffee is laid out in the downstairs dining room, a perfect spot for reading about the goings-on of the Latin American jetset in the magazines provided by the hotel. But the garden is the real star of the hotel, with a lounger-dotted pool area and an outdoor bar. Don’t forget to bring your tablet — there’s free WiFi everywhere.

Great hotel, great value!

We booked the Atlantico Boutique hotel becausee it looked clean, the price was right, and it included breakfast.
Now that we've stayed, we would certainly be up for a repeat visit---the breakfast was great and had eggs and ham and delicious fresh-squeezed orange juice, the overall environment of the hotel was welcoming and very beach-ey, and an unexpected surprise was that they had bikes to rent, including one with a child's seat....and at the very-reasonable price of $2.00 US per hour.
We took advantage of the bikes and the close proximity of La Rambla and had a great afternoon out exploring Punta del Este.
We were surprised by how many of the restaurants close for the season (McDonalds...closed for the season...really?), but still a great city with awesome weather and great views.
It would be nice if the pool was heated, but not much to complain about.

Wonderful localization: just 3 blocks from seaside, near beaches and other attractions. Comfortable bed, nice staff, buffet breakfast and sunny pool. I'd only wished room (we chose the superior one) was a little bigger (but I loved the lighthouse view). Totally recommended!

We just spent 6 nights at Hotel Atlantico. We didn't know much about Punta del Este when we arrived, but we were soon very pleased with our location. The hotel is near the end of the Punta - where there are no big hotels and the neighbourhood is mostly residential. It was nice to be in a quieter spot! We could easily walk to Playa Brava, Playa Mansa or the Puerto. The pool with patio and cabanas was a great place to take a break from the busy beaches.
Overall we had an excellent experience with service. We told the bartender it was our honeymoon and he got us a complimentary bottle of Champagne. We rented a car one day to go see Jose Ignacio. The front desk staff arranged it for us and the rate was excellent at $65 for the day (online, everything was around $200).
The breakfast is served 8am-12pm, so we could use it for breakfast or early lunch. Decent buffet with lots of selection. Rooms were clean, air-conditioned and well stocked. We rented the hotel's bikes one day to ride over to La Barra. The bikes are in pretty rough shape and their chains were rusty. I wouldn't trust them to do anything more than a short casual ride. We had to fix my husband's chain once en route.
My only other suggestion would be more hooks/towel bars in the bathroom to hang up wet clothes/bathing suits from the beach. Otherwise we were very happy. Would definitely book again. Thank you!

Positive: friendly staff, location, sea view at terrace rooms, nice sun sets, good wifi, nice and comfortable bed and pillows.
Neutral: breakfast, cleanliness, hotel architecture.
Negative: small rooms, only one elevator used also by staff, noisy and old elevator, very nosy A/C exterior unit, late room cleaning, no covered parking facilities, price/quality ratio very high & in Miami you get the same at half price. Punta del Este is in general terms expensive.

we stayed here 3 nights in January.
Yes, our room was small but didn't even bother us because it's so well organized.
really enjoyed our location and how very comfortable the hotel made us feel.
the people at the front desk were extremely helpful and nice and the buffet breakfast was good.
I would highly recommend this hotel because of their top service, location, and cleanliness/comfort.
