-phrase.
有些学者把know of和know about视为同义词。例如:I know about〔of〕 it long ago.(Palmer)我很久以前就听说过这件事了。
口语中表示“不知道”,可说I don't know。不过这听起来显得不温和、不友好,不如说I have no idea。
know有时可用作名词, in the know表示“知情的,消息灵通的”。
know, know about, know of
I know of him, but I don't know him personally.
It is better to know one thing than to know about ten thousand things.
know by, know to
现代英语中be known to较少使用。例如:
He's known to everybody here.
He's known by everybody here.
We know a judge by the clothes he wears.
know, learn, understand
How had he learned that secret?
They were greatly surprised to learn the news.
Do you understand the difficulty of my position?
know, realize
So far as I know, he's abroad.
know, recognize
I don't know, I wonder
参见wonder条。
comprehend
understand
He is knowing something about physics.
正 He knows something about physics.
She knows to make cakes.
误 She knows making cakes.
误 She knows how making cakes.
正 She knows how to make cakes.

They are fighting with their enemy. They are fighting against their enemy.
用作不及物动词时,常与 against , back, for, off, out等词连用。
They fought with the Italians in the last war and against them in this.
fight against, fight with
1.fight against和fight with的意思相仿,都表示“同…
You will have to fight against difficulties.
We may fight against our own feelings or desires.
2.fight with表示“用…
In former times, people used to fight with swords.
fight for, fight over
They fought for independence.
He was away for three years fighting for his country.
He and his wife are always fighting over who will do the housework.
fight, contend, cope
fight, quarrel, row
The quarrel originates in a misunderstanding.
The police broke up the fight.
He felt obliged to leave after such an unpleasant quarrel.
Have you been fighting with your brother again?
We must arouse them to fight for their own emancipation.
3.row
fight, struggle
We must struggle difficulties.
Martin struggled in the dark, without advice, without encouragement.

fight, battle, combat, conflict, encounter, war
