Update 2016-15&Statement of Cash Flows (Topic 230): Classification of Certain Cash Receipts and Cash Payments (a consensus of the Emerging Issues Task Force)
August 2016
Effective for public business entities for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2017, and interim periods within those fiscal years. For all other entities, the amendments are effective for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2018, and interim periods within fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2019. Early adoption is permitted, including adoption in an interim period. If an entity early adopts the amendments in an interim period, any adjustments should be reflected as of the beginning of the fiscal year that includes that interim period. An entity that elects early adoption must adopt all of the amendments in the same period.
Update 2016-14&Not-for-Profit Entities (Topic 958): Presentation of Financial Statements of Not-for-Profit Entities
August 2016
Effective for annual financial statements issued for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2017, and for interim periods within fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2018. Application to interim financial statements is permitted but not required in the initial year of application.
Early application of the amendments is permitted. The amendments should be initially adopted only for an annual fiscal period or for the first interim period within the fiscal year of adoption.
Update 2016-13&Financial Instruments&Credit Losses (Topic 326): Measurement of Credit Losses on Financial Instruments
For public business entities that are U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filers, the amendments in this Update are effective for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2019, including interim periods within those fiscal years. For all other public business entities, the amendments in this Update are effective for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2020, including interim periods within those fiscal years.
For all other entities, including not-for-profit entities and employee benefit plans within the scope of Topics 960 through 965 on plan accounting, the amendments in this Update are effective for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2020, and interim periods within fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2021. All entities may adopt the amendments in this Update earlier as of the fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2018, including interim periods within those fiscal years.
Update 2016-12&Revenue from Contracts with Customers (Topic 606): Narrow-Scope Improvements and Practical Expedients
The amendments in this Update affect the guidance in Accounting Standards Update 2014-09, Revenue from Contracts with Customers (Topic 606), which is not yet effective. The effective date and transition requirements for the amendments in this Update are the same as the effective date and transition requirements for Topic 606 (and any other Topic amended by Update 2014-09). Accounting Standards Update 2015-14, Revenue from Contracts with Customers (Topic 606): Deferral of the Effective Date, defers the effective date of Update 2014-09 by one year.

The amendments should be applied prospectively upon their effective date to increases in the level of ownership interest or degree of influence that result in the adoption of the equity method. Earlier application is permitted.

An employee benefit plan that files financial statements with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
For all other entities, the amendments in this Update are effective for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2019, and interim periods within fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2020.
Early application of the amendments in this Update is permitted for all entities.
Update 2016-01&Financial Instruments&Overall (Subtopic 825-10): Recognition and Measurement of Financial Assets and Financial Liabilities
January 2016
For public business entities, the amendments in this Update are effective for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2017, including interim periods within those fiscal years. For all other entities including not-for-profit entities and employee benefit plans within the scope of Topics 960 through 965 on plan accounting, the amendments in this Update are effective for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2018, and interim periods within fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2019. All entities that are not public business entities may adopt the amendments in this Update earlier as of the fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2017, including interim periods within those fiscal years.
Early application of the following amendments in this Update are permitted for all entities upon issuance of this Update as of the beginning of the fiscal year of adoption:
An entity should present separately in other comprehensive income the portion of the total change in the fair value of a liability resulting from a change in the instrument-specific credit risk if the entity has elected to measure the liability at fair value in accordance with the fair value option for financial instruments.
Entities that are not public business entities are not required to apply the fair value of financial instruments disclosure guidance in the General Subsection of Section 825-10-50.
Except for the early application guidance discussed above, early adoption of the amendments in this Update is not permitted.
Update 2015-17&Income Taxes (Topic 740): Balance Sheet Classification of Deferred Taxes
November 2015
For public business entities, the amendments in this Update are effective for financial statements issued for annual periods beginning after December 15, 2016, and interim periods within those annual periods.
For all other entities, the amendments in this Update are effective for financial statements issued for annual periods beginning after December 15, 2017, and interim periods within annual periods beginning after December 15, 2018.
Earlier application is permitted for all entities as of the beginning of an interim or annual reporting period.
Update 2015-16&Business Combinations (Topic 805): Simplifying the Accounting for Measurement-Period Adjustments
September 2015
For public business entities, the amendments are effective for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2015, including interim periods within those fiscal years. The amendments should be applied prospectively to adjustments to provisional amounts that occur after the effective date of this Update with earlier application permitted for financial statements that have not been issued.
For all other entities, the amendments are effective for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2016, and interim periods within fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2017. The amendments should be applied prospectively to adjustments to provisional amounts that occur after the effective date of this Update with earlier application permitted for financial statements that have not yet been made available for issuance.
Update 2015-14&Revenue from Contracts with Customers (Topic 606): Deferral of the Effective Date
August 2015
The amendments in this Update defer the effective date of Update 2014-09 for all entities by one year. Public business entities, certain not-for-profit entities, and certain employee benefit plans should apply the guidance in Update 2014-09 to annual reporting periods beginning after December 15, 2017, including interim reporting periods within that reporting period. Earlier application is permitted only as of annual reporting periods beginning after December 15, 2016, including interim reporting periods within that reporting period.
All other entities should apply the guidance in Update 2014-09 to annual reporting periods beginning after December 15, 2018, and interim reporting periods within annual reporting periods beginning after December 15, 2019. All other entities may apply the guidance in Update 2014-09 earlier as of an annual reporting period beginning after December 15, 2016, including interim reporting periods within that reporting period. All other entities also may apply the guidance in Update 2014-09 earlier as of an annual reporting period beginning after December 15, 2016, and interim reporting periods within annual reporting periods beginning one year after the annual reporting period in which the entity first applies the guidance in Update 2014-09.
Update 2015-13&Derivatives and Hedging (Topic 815): Application of the Normal Purchases and Normal Sales Scope Exception to Certain Electricity Contracts within Nodal Energy Markets (a consensus of the FASB Emerging Issues Task Force)
August 2015
Effective upon issuance and should be applied prospectively. Therefore, an entity will have the ability to designate on or after the date of issuance any qualifying contracts as normal purchases or normal sales.
Update 2015-12&Plan Accounting: Defined Benefit Pension Plans (Topic 960), Defined Contribution Pension Plans (Topic 962), Health and Welfare Benefit Plans (Topic 965): (Part I) Fully Benefit-Responsive Investment Contracts, (Part II) Plan Investment Disclosures, (Part III) Measurement Date Practical Expedient (consensuses of the FASB Emerging Issues Task Force)
The amendments in all three parts of this Update are effective for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2015.
Earlier application is permitted.
An entity should apply the amendments in Parts I and II retrospectively for all financial statements presented.
An entity should apply the amendments on Part III prospectively.
Update 2015-11&Inventory (Topic 330): Simplifying the Measurement of Inventory
For public business entities, effective for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2016, including interim periods within those fiscal years. For all other entities, effective for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2016, and interim periods within fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2017. The amendments in this Update should be applied prospectively with earlier application permitted as of the beginning of an interim or annual reporting period.
Update 2015-10&Technical Corrections and Improvements
Transition guidance varies based on the amendments in this Update. The amendments in this Update that require transition guidance are effective for all entities for fiscal years, and interim periods within those fiscal years, beginning after December 15, 2015. Early adoption is permitted, including adoption in an interim period. All other amendments will be effective upon the issuance of this Update.
Update 2015-09&Financial Services&Insurance (Topic 944): Disclosures about Short-Duration Contracts
For public business entities, effective for annual periods beginning after December 15, 2015, and interim periods within annual periods beginning after December 15, 2016.
For all other entities, effective for annual periods beginning after December 15, 2016, and interim periods within annual periods beginning after December 15, 2017.
Update 2015-07&Fair Value Measurement (Topic 820): Disclosures for Investments in Certain Entities That Calculate Net Asset Value per Share (or Its Equivalent) (a consensus of the FASB Emerging Issues Task Force)
Effective for public business entities for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2015, and interim periods within those fiscal years. For all other entities, the amendments in this Update are effective for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2016, and interim periods within those fiscal years. A reporting entity should apply the amendments retrospectively to all periods presented. The retrospective approach requires that an investment for which fair value is measured using the net asset value per share practical expedient be removed from the fair value hierarchy in all periods presented in an entity&s financial statements. Earlier application is permitted.
Update 2015-06&Earnings Per Share (Topic 260): Effects on Historical Earnings per Unit of Master Limited Partnership Dropdown Transactions (a consensus of the FASB Emerging Issues Task Force)

The effective date is the same for both public business entities and all other entities.

August 2014
For public business entities, the new standards are effective for annual periods, and interim periods within those annual periods, beginning after December 15, 2014.
For all other entities, the new standards are effective for annual periods ending after December 15, 2015, and interim periods beginning after December 15, 2015.
Earlier adoption is permitted under certain circumstances.
Subject to certain considerations, an entity will apply the new standards either prospectively or by using a modified retrospective approach.
Update No. 2014-12&Compensation&Stock Compensation (Topic 718): Accounting for Share-Based Payments When the Terms of an Award Provide That a Performance Target Could Be Achieved after the Requisite Service Period (a consensus of the FASB Emerging Issues Task Force)
Effective for annual periods and interim periods within those annual periods, beginning after December 15, 2015. An entity may apply the standards (1) prospectively to all share-based payment awards that are granted or modified on or after the effective date, or (2) retrospectively to all awards with performance targets that are outstanding as of the beginning of the earliest annual period presented in the financial statements and to all new or modified awards thereafter. Earlier application is permitted.
Update No. 2014-11&Transfers and Servicing (Topic 860): Repurchase-to-Maturity Transactions, Repurchase Financings, and Disclosures
For public business entities, the accounting changes and disclosure for certain transactions accounted for as a sale are effective for the first period (interim or annual) beginning after December 15, 2014. Earlier application for a public business entity is prohibited. The disclosure for transactions accounted for as secured borrowings is required for annual periods beginning after December 15, 2014, and for interim periods after March 15, 2015.
For all other entities, the accounting changes and both new disclosures are effective for annual periods beginning after December 15, 2014 and interim periods after December 15, 2015. These entities may elect early application and apply the requirements for interim periods beginning after December 15, 2014.
For all entities, the disclosures are not required to be presented for comparative periods before the effective date.

For a public entity, effective for annual reporting periods beginning after December 15, 2016, including interim periods within that reporting period. Early application is not permitted. A public entity is an entity that is any one of the following: (1) a public business entity, (2) a not-for-profit entity that has issued, or is a conduit bond obligor for, securities that are traded, listed, or quoted on an exchange or an over-the-counter market, (3) an employee benefit plan that files or furnishes financial statements to the SEC.
For all other entities (nonpublic entities), effective for annual reporting periods beginning after December 15, 2017, and interim periods within annual periods beginning after December 15, 2018. A nonpublic entity may elect to apply this guidance earlier, however, only as of the following: (1) an annual reporting period beginning after December 15, 2016, including interim periods within that reporting period (public entity effective date), (2) an annual reporting period beginning after December 15, 2016, and interim periods within annual periods beginning after December 15, 2017, (3) an annual reporting period beginning after December 15, 2017, including interim periods within that reporting period.
Update No. 2014-08&Presentation of Financial Statements (Topic 205) and Property, Plant, and Equipment (Topic 360): Reporting Discontinued Operations and Disclosures of Disposals of Components of an Entity

Effective in the first quarter of 2015 for public companies with calendar year ends. For most nonpublic entities, it is effective for annual financial statements with years that begin on or after December 15, 2014.
Update No. 2013-12&Definition of a Public Business Entity&An Addition to the Master Glossary

There is no actual effective date for the amendment in this Update. However, the term public business entity will be used in the 2014 Accounting Standards Updates on, Intangibles-Goodwill and Other (Topic 350): Accounting for Goodwill, and Derivatives and Hedging (Topic 815): Accounting for Certain Receive-Variable, Pay-Fixed Interest Rate Swaps- Simplified Hedge Accounting Approach, which are the first Updates that will use the term public business entity.
Update No. 2013-09&Fair Value Measurement (Topic 820): Deferral of the Effective Date of Certain Disclosures for Nonpublic Employee Benefit Plans in Update No. 2011-04
The deferral in this amendment is effective upon issuance (July 8, 2013) for financial statements that have not been issued.
