Chicago’s rap scene is richer than ever right now, and

a new track featuring current Chi-town king .
“Heaven Only Knows” also features Lido and Eryn Allen Kane, plus an undeniable piano-based jazz beat. Towkio drops all his bars with an audible smile on his face, rhyming, “It’s my job to make them think/ And make music that they feel so this all makes them sing.” The whole thing pops as electronic stomps and gospel hand claps launch into the chorus, breaking down into glitchy synths for Chance’s consistently fiery verse. about the American choreographer Merce Cunningham, who died in 2009, at the age of ninety, and whose company performed for the last time on December 31st. Influenced by his longtime companion, the composer John Cage, Cunningham embraced chance as an organizing principle in his art—he would throw the I Ching, for example, to determine how many dancers would perform in a passage, where they would enter the stage, and for how long they would dance. Acocella writes, “For years, I felt that Cunningham’s use of chance weakened his dances. If Mother Nature gave us brains, shouldn’t we use them instead of rolling the dice? But now, after so much time, I can’t imagine Cunnigham’s work without chance. And it did give him something huge. He believed that his non-narrative methods allowed his dancers to come before us more clearly: in his words, ‘naked, powerful, and unashamed.’ ”
