Please contact the office on
nctlctrust. for more information about the role.

It is so lovely to hear from our families about the wonderful time they all had at our caravan down the East Sussex Coast. One of our families - Rebecca, her partner and little Logan have only just returned from Hastings with a fantastic feedback :
" We had a brilliant time, Logan absolutely loved it! Thank you so much for the opportunity to go, it's such a beautiful & relaxing area with lots of things to do and was great to get away from everything for a while and enjoy each other's company, whilst still feeling very at home in the lovely caravan. It's really reassuring knowing how close the hospital is too. We will definitely go back next year if possible."
Rich Pickings from Our Children's Garden
One of our families - The Chamberlains - are already reaping the benefits from our allotment and getting freshly grown veggies for their dinner (families plant and look after their own veggie patches). It's a great way for the children to learn where the veggies come from and how to grow their own.
Sally Chamberlain said: "Kids were amazed to find broad beans inside their casing and loved tasting peas in pods. And this is from two kids that never eat veg without a fuss!!"
What a fantastic result!!

Allotment Transformation Revealed
The NC TLC Trust’s allotment has undergone a re-design and all the work and care shown to the garden was unveiled at an official open day in May.
On Sunday, May 11th the children’s cancer charity invited charity families and supporters to the allotment garden in Earls Barton, and the rain stayed away allowing visitors to enjoy the newly cultivated and maintained allotment plot.
Lynda Garratt, the Trust’s Allotment Project Manager, has worked tirelessly for months on the project with the help of volunteers and funding from sponsors to get it completed and ready for the families to utilise and enjoy.
The allotment space offers the charity families four raised planting beds for produce to be grown and harvested by them, whilst enjoying the outdoor space at the same time.
The NCTLC Trust Event’s Manager, Victoria Mifsud said: “What a lovely afternoon it turned out to be.
The allotment looks beautiful, thanks to our fantastic project manager, Lynda Garratt.”
She added: “Lynda made this event exactly what it should be.
The children turned up with their shovels and plants or seeds and planted them in their designated flower beds.
“They will now continue to care for them throughout the year.”

Miss Misfud said: “We would like to thank Dominic, James and Phil but most of all we would like to thank the biggest stars of the day our charity Families for coming along.”
A celebration cake cut on the day was provided by Nina McPherson and her daughter Molly and was enjoyed by all.
Reflecting on the project, Lynda Garratt said: “I was appointed project manager for the NC TLC Trust around about 6 or 7 months ago. The plan was to rejuvenate the plot and bring it back into use for the charity families to enjoy and grow plants and produce.
“When I first saw the allotment my first thought was ‘oh my goodness I’m going to have my work cut out for me here’, but in the same breathe I thought ‘what a challenge this will be, can’t wait to get stuck in.’ “
Mrs Garrett added: “It has taken months of hard work by an army of volunteers, weeding, constructing, painting, staining wood, erecting fences, making signs and making seating etc.
“I would like to thank all the kind businesses for their generous donations of plants, compost, timber, child seats, and slabs etc. – Akzo Noble, Bosworths, Growing Beds, Hevey Building Supplies, Northampton Garden Centre Group and Marshalls.”
She added: “The best reward I could have now is to see the plot utilised and enjoyed by the families of the charity.”
The NC TLC Trust would also like to thank volunteers from Nationwide Building Society’s Member Services team that helped near the end of the project to help with finishing touches. Special thanks go to Stacey M Lois Paulin, Mike Binner, Rob Pittan, Elanie Holmes, Clair Eustace, Steven Tong, Matt Whitworth and Cathy Brownlie.

&A Golden Opportunity for Charity
A NEW way to donate has been taken up by the NC TLC Trust for 2013.
The Charity has signed up to,
a website/online service that makes sure more of the money you have donated to a charity goes directly to the charity and not to business/admin fees.
The Golden Giving web site is free for a charity to register and can be used to promote a charity and accept donations for their charity too.
Golden Giving states on its website: “We charge no fee for fundraising and direct charity donations. “We are completely free for charities, fundraisers and donors. Plus, Gift Aid is reclaimed and passed on in full.”
Golden Giving explain how they manage to do this: “We can provide our service free for charities, donors and fundraisers, as we are sponsored by philanthropic individuals, public and private companies, from around the world.
“Our sponsors must demonstrate a commitment to charitable work or corporate social responsibility.”
Office Manager for the NC TLC Trust, Lucie Gildon added: “' Golden Giving is an incredible tool for the charities. It is totally free so all the donations made by public actually go to their chosen charities.
“It is so important that the charities get this extra money, especially in this tough economic climate. Golden Giving has also created a tool to purchase tickets for fundraising events, which again saves charities a lot of money, as there no longer will be the need to pay for the services.
“ We urge people to use Golden Giving ONLY if they are planning a fundraising event for their chosen charity. They are the best! “

The occasion this year was held at the Marriott Hotel in Northampton and it was very glamorous and glitzy affair, with a champagne and Canapé reception on arrival sponsored by Adam Platter from .
In attendance on the night were members of the charity’s team, sponsors, fundraisers, supporters and also families who have benefited from all that the charity do to help make a difference to the lives of the children who have cancer and their families.
The event was enjoyed by 165 guests who also had time during the evening for reflection on why they were all there and where our money donated goes to.
During the evening we were shown a short video which highlighted the work of the charity to help the families and help them enjoy life, with their children who are suffering and the charity provides them with the much needed break from hospital treatment and appointments.
The video illustrated what a great year of events the charity had hosted during 2012 and what enjoyable times have been had by the families with a track day at Rockingham Raceway, the launch of the Community allotment project in June, time on a narrow boat and many getting away to the charity’s caravan.
Then alongside the happiness of the images were mixed in with the memories of those children helped but no longer with us, those who lost their fight against Cancer.
Awards were then awarded to sponsors/companies who have raised great amounts of money for the charity and supported in various ways, the categories were as follows: Continuous Support - ,
Duncan Carte D& S Autos, Chris Kellett and Mandy K

the Owen Joseph Memorial Trophy award to represented by Mike and Julie Gardner, who also presented us with a ?1000 cheque on the night.
Chairman of the NC TLC Trust, Kevin Smith said: “We were really happy to see everyone enjoying the evening, and also showing them how the team make a difference to now so many families.
“We are delighted to have received so many kind words of support, and admiration for the evening.”
Chief Executive of the charity, Janet Walker-Smith added: “It was an awesome evening and it is going to be difficult to top this one next year.”
The evening raised more than ?5,000 for the Earl Barton based charity and more money is still pouring in via donate on website.
The live auction on the night and the silent auction both were huge successes with ?950 being given for the signed Fabio Capello England football shirt, donated by Casey Smith TJ’s older brother who was in hospital last December in Great Ormond Street, he signed it just before he went on Sky news that evening and resigned as England manager from football.
Janet said:” The bidder wanted to remain anonymous, thank-you to who it was who kindly donated the shirt back to be auctioned again next year.”
