Held in the new and unique Pachamama restaurant and cocktail lab, the event was jointly organized by Pro Ecuador, the lead agency for promotion of exports and investments for Ecuador and Benlai, a Chinese online fresh food shopping platform created in 2012. An inspiring evening with inspiring people!
　　Ecuadorian premium products
　　&Exquisite Ecuador, a taste of Ecuadorian excellence& is an event held in some of Pro Ecuador’s 30 Commercial Offices around the world to acquire global recognition for being a gastronomic event promoting premium products, thus being a key aspect for the promotion of its exportable offer. Pro Ecuador Chief Commercial Officer Diego Vega launched the first edition of “Exquisite Ecuador” last year and introduced Ecuadorian coffee to the Chinese market last April with the successful “Ecuador Premium Coffee Workshop”.
　　Yesterday’s second edition of “Exquisite Ecuador” gathered 100 guests including officials, F&B importers, buyers and media. This year Pro Ecuador was joined by Benlai, a Chinese online shopping platform - a sincere business partner of Pro Ecuador - selling high quality and fresh products which was celebrating its 4 years of establishment.
　　Benlai, whose mission is to provide high quality and fresh products to Chinese families, is known across the country for its one-of-a-kind “Go Home for Dinner” campaign launched in 2013 encouraging people to eat home instead of eating outside and promoting a healthier lifestyle with less working hours. But this Saturday, amazing products had the place of honor, including one of Benlai’s star products: the notorious Ecuadorian shrimps that guests truly enjoyed.
　　An inspiring event with inspiring people
　　After an engaging welcome speech given by Benlai Purchasing Director Zhang Xianghai and Pro ECUADOR Chief Commercial Offier Diego Vega, the event was followed by Benlai’s anniversary celebration with a warm cocktail inside a crowded restaurant.
　　The anniversary was followed by the awarding ceremony of the Shrimp King and Queen in which candidates competed against each other on the 15th of July and had to prove they had the most creative Ecuadorian shrimp recipe. The three chosen had the chance to be delivered their awards in front of a cheering crowd.
　　Miguel Monar, the well know Ecuadorian Chef in town, who’s helming the kitchen of the newely opened Pachamama, introduced the culinary culture of Ecuador and once again proved it’s cooking abilities by preparing exotic appetizers and innovative cocktails, including shrimp-based delicacies such as the innovative shrimp ceviche or the special grilled shrimp with “guayusa” scent, whose preparation was definitely worth the detour.
　　Also in attendance at the event was special guest Guillermo Serra, representative of Aficion C a chocolate producer C dedicated itself to a chocolate cooking show, where he notably showed the attendance how to transform chocolate ganache into truffles. Yummy!
　　Last but not least, the event introduced the selected 5 fine dining restaurants in Shanghai that use Exquisite Ecuador basket& to create a special dish of their nationality (Chinese, Italian, French, Spanish) cuisine. The basket contains heart of palms, chocolates, coffee, shrimps, bananas, baby bananas. The five selected restaurants were Pachamama (Ecuador), Uncle 5 (China), El Willy (Spain), Salotto (Italy) and Mint (International).
　　The quality of Ecuadorian products is well received in all cuisine!
