Zenosense is focused on emerging technology. From the start, the healthcare technology company has sought to develop an operational Super-Bug or Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) detector for use in hospitals, clinical environments and other healthcare settings.
Last year, Zenosense outsourced the development of its device to The Sgenia Group, a well-known sensor developer. Sgenia intends to model the new device after the algal (water) sensor platform it developed and to use a solo, commercial “off-the-shelf” gas sensor to sample the air and continuously check for the airborne Volatile Organic Compounds signature emitted by MRSA/SA. The device development process is intended to be completed in three distinct phases:
The first phase will be to produce a prototype that leverages Sgenia’s technology and successfully detects MRSA/SA contamination. Significant engineering work will be needed to adjust and adapt existing sensor capabilities to the planned application. The modification of algorithms will also be required to conform to MRSA/SA bacteria analysis. All of these developments will most likely be protected as industrial secrets rather than patents.
The second phase will be to build prototypes as well as conduct lab tests with a minimum of 20 beta versions of the MRSA/SA detection device. Next, a pre-production design appropriate for hospital use will have to be delivered. A vital aspect of this phase will be authenticating the device and achieving accuracy and repeatability. Testing will include: addressing the contaminating influences of environmental conditions, like humidity, temperature and other gasses, as well as the interference from other
and achieving the standard and quality levels required for hospital use.
The third and final phase will be to obtain pertinent regulatory approvals in the United States and European Union and to produce a final product ready for mass production and marketing. Steps during this phase will include: final testing by an external and specialist labora preparing and pursuing appli remedying any problems det as well as preparing for mass production of the device, once all relevant tests and approvals are obtained.
The development of the Zenosense device started in December 2013. Months later, in late October 2014, Zenosense announced that major progress had been made in the development of its MRSA/SA detector. The prototype device successfully achieved a sensibility detection rate greater than 95% on cultured headspace in a sequence of tests over a two-week period in a clinical setting. The general development of the device technology, which will detect the MRSA Super-Bug, was also proceeding in line with the company’s expectations.

One World Holdings, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, the One World Doll Project, recently announced the next phase of expansion for its acclaimed brand of multicultural fashion and play dolls. The highly anticipated Prettie Girls!(TM) Tween Scene collection will arrive in approximately 3,000 Walmart (NYSE: WMT) stores across the United States in October, providing the company with an opportunity to continue building on the success of its four original Prettie Girls! dolls.
“Our vision in developing the Prettie Girls! Tween Scene collection was to provide young girls with dolls that represent their individual backgrounds, stories, styles, goals and inspirations,” Trent T. Daniel, founder of OWOO, stated in a news release. “It is an honor to launch this new line, which endeavors to reflect America’s children, at Walmart, where America shops.”
The new collection will consist of pre-teen versions of the company’s original dolls, including all four of the Prettie Girls! characters, in addition to the introduction of two new personalities representing additional cultures and backgrounds. In total, the company’s new line will include African-American, Hispanic, South Asian, African, Asian and Caucasian dolls.
The Prettie Girls! were originally launched in 2010 by Daniel and Stacey McBride-Irby, a former designer for toy giant Mattel(R) who is widely regarded for her role in creating Mattel’s first African-American dolls. Since 2010, OWOO has received orders from a collection of major retailers, including Amazon, Walmart and Toys”R”Us. This increased presence has helped the company post improved financial results in recent months. In April, OWOO announced a 532 percent increase in annual year-over-year revenue in 2014, and the company’s management team expects continued growth moving toward the holiday season.
“It has already been a big year for us and as we continue to expand the Prettie Girls! brand across the nation, we expect to see even more sales performance as the 2015 Christmas season draws closer,” stated Joanne Melton, chief executive officer of OWOO.
According to the Toy Association, the domestic toy industry accounted for over $18 billion in revenue in 2014, with $2.32 billion attributed to the doll category. Through the release of the Prettie Girls! Tween Scene collection later this year, OWOO will be in a strong position to continue expanding upon its current share of the thriving market. For prospective investors, this announcement could foreshadow an extremely promising holiday season later this year.

– The QualityStocks Daily Blog for Micro-cap and Small-Cap Companies
Recently, we had a chance to sit down with Performance Health Technologies (PFMH.OB) CEO Robert Prunetti. Appointed as President and CEO of Performance on March 15th, 2006, Prunetti reengineered the company, launching new marketing and product development strategies and eventually taking the company public.
While a leader in the boardroom, Prunetti is also a standout citizen. In 2003, Prunetti was named citizen of the year by the Greater Mercer County, New Jersey Chamber of Commerce. One of the main reasons for this recognition was Prunetti’s hard work and dedication with the Mercer County Open Space Trust Fund, which protected literally thousands of acres of the state’s natural resources in the area’s pristine natural spaces.
Though confronted with a busy schedule, Prunetti took time to answer questions about Performance Health Technology and its premier product, the Core: Tx(R), which is designed to teach stroke victims how to rehabilitate themselves to make their lives, and the lives of their families, easier after enduring the physical difficulties engendered by a stroke.
QS: Please give a brief overview of the Core: Tx(R)?
Core:Tx(R) is a computer-based program that uses wireless motion-sensing technology designed for neuromuscular re-education, a technique used by rehabilitation therapists to restore normal movement in patients with orthopedic and neuromuscular impairments resulting from trauma, medical conditions and neurological conditions such as stroke and traumatic brain injury.
QS: Is Performance Health strictly an NJ Company?
While Performance Health Technologies is based in Trenton, N.J., distribution partners like Interactive Metronome, based in Chicago, are helping bring our technology to a large clinical population across the country.
QS: Are there any products by Performance we should be on the lookout for?
Future products will include internet enabled software and hardware systems that allow users even more flexibility with their exercise routines, whether rehabbing from an injury or condition, or building strength and coordination.
Recently, PHT signed an agreement with Minneapolis-based Logic Product Development. Under the agreement, Logic, a product development and manufacturing company, will improve the usability and design of the next-generation Core:Tx(R) rehabilitation device. The updated version will be significantly smaller and lighter, read movement in multiple directions, and have multi-use capabilities for a more complex exercise program.
The product will also be able to run on Bluetooth technology for greater accuracy and improved signal strength, enabling the Core:Tx(R) to account for a more peripheral movement. The device is scheduled to be ready for release, along with the next generation of Core:Tx (R) software, which is planned to be web-enabled to allow for remote access to the therapy. With this product, patients will be able to remain connected to their physical therapists via the Internet.
QS: Where do you see Performance Health going in the next decade?
The market for consumer-electronic-based therapeutic and well-being products is expected to grow by 20 percent per year, reaching about $4 billion worldwide by 2010. Performance Health Technologies, Inc. is currently leading the way in the development and marketing of innovative products that guide and monitor exercise and rehabilitation. We remain committed to constant innovation of our products through the convergence of clinical knowledge and cutting-edge technology. Markets such as general fitness, sports performance exercise, and corrective exercise are targets for our products.
