英文翻译不到位甚至出现明显错误现象，在环西湖景区中各景点中存在不少,形式不一而足，现以郭庄的“两宜轩”、柳浪闻莺景区门口的“西湖南线景区导游图”及＂布设帐篷区域＂告示牌三处译文为例，对英文措辞欠缺之处进行大致分类：
1、 语法错误
如：“两宜轩”译文中有It is divided the garden into two parts namely Jing Bi Ju and Yi Jing Tian Kai and sets off with Xiang Xue Feng Chun Hall.& 句子中＂It is divided the garden into…＂为明显的语法错误。
再如：“西湖南线景区导游图”这一标题中＂西湖＂的翻译为We st Lake（此处不光省略了不该省的定冠词，而且单词West也分家了），应为＂the West Lake＂。　
2、 拼写错误
如：＂布设帐篷区域＂告示牌的英文中，everyday应为every day
3、 翻译专有名词时，过度以汉语拼音取代，造成语义晦涩
如：“两宜轩”译文中用了汉语拼音＂Xizi＂，＂Jing Bi Ju＂，＂Yi Jing Tian Kai＂，＂Xiang Xue Feng Chun Hall＂，这些富含中国特色文化信息的语言仅仅借助拼音而不加任何诠释，对外宾都将构成理解障碍。
4、 与原意有出入，意思不到位
如：“两宜轩”原文中有＂前屋檐下苏池匾额为当代造园大师陈从周题书＂，这句话的译文则不光有晦涩之处，并存在与本意有出入的成分。
再如：“两宜轩”译文中．．．sets off with Xiang Xue Feng Chun Hall几乎不知所云。
５、有些译文尽管无语法或拼写等错误，但听起来幼稚，缺乏美感
如：＂为跨水木结构廊轩建筑＂的译文为＂The pavilion is a wood-structured veranda pavilion built over water．＂
再如：＂布设帐篷区域＂告示牌中… please maintain environmental sanitation and obey staff’s administration on own initiative. 过于机械的翻译，听起来＂中国式英文＂太浓。
总的来看，之所以景点英文译文众多不雅之处能较长时间存在，可能与以下因素有关：
１．园文部门管理人员本身的英文水准欠缺，因此对英文翻译的合适性缺乏敏感度（这点无可厚非，但能有专业英文处理人员配备则更佳！）；
２．与园文管理人员的观念也有一定关联，对英文翻译得正确性重视不够。长时间的问题译文存在肯定会招致来自各种途径的反馈，如果管理人员能足够重视这一问题，译文问题至少不会大面积长时间存在。
３．管理部门当初处理英文牌匾制作时未能找到专业的翻译人员和专业的制作公司。有些译文错误是翻译人员的水平欠缺（如译文与原文意思有出入问题），有的是翻译人员或牌匾制作单位人员的手误，即粗心所致（如明显的拼写错误）。
作为重要旅游城市的杭州，国际化程度日益提高，这一进程随着本市举行的各类国际会展、西湖博览会、以及北京奥运会、上海世博会等重大国际活动，必将得到进一步加快。因此环西湖景点翻译的得体性对园文部门改进景区管理来说应该是迫在眉睫，否则美丽的风景与蹩脚的翻译＂相映成趣＂。至于如何完成这一工程，建议：
１．组织得力英语专家，对环西湖景区各景点的英文翻译稿进行彻查。杭州不乏翻译人才，但要找对人，绝不能把翻译这项任务连同牌匾制作一并承包给广告（或牌匾制作）公司。因为广告公司的人员英文也鲜有地道者，如果翻译也由他们负责，那他们也不得不另找翻译人员，而他们找人的过程就很难监督了。
２．选择专业的广告（牌匾制作）单位，签订英文牌匾制作责任状，并全程督促他们对文稿的誊写和制作负责，杜绝在制作过程中走样。牌匾制作成本高，使用时间长，一旦制作完成更改不容易，因此在制作过程中“防错于未然”尤为重要，责任状中写明类似于“涉及翻译的达意、拼写、语法、标点、大小写等各方面问题，如由于牌匾制作过程中出问题应由制作公司负责”等字样。

With the more books we read, we can be more gentle and knowledgable. And we can read books at any time and place. But how can we obtain knowledge by reading? Here I will list 2 ways.
