allows you to edit and send packets via your network card. To open
the Packet Generator, click Tools
=& Packet Generator, or select a packet from
the Packets
right-click on it, and select the Send
Packet command.
Please note
that the Packet Generator cannot and should not be used for sending
application-layer TCP streams, i.e. it cannot take care of
incrementing SEQ or ACK values automatically, adjusting checksums
and packet sizes and so forth. If you need to send a TCP stream,
you should use a Winsock-based application specifically designed
for that purpose. The Packet Generator is a tool for replaying
pre-captured data, testing firewalls and intrusion detection
systems, as well as for performing other specific tasks that
require manual packet crafting.
The Packet
Generator allows you to change the packet contents and have the
packet decode displayed in the left window as you edit it. You can
create you have full control over the packet
contents. For IP, TCP, UDP, and ICMP packets, you can automatically
correct the checksum(s) by clicking on the Sigma
button. To
assist you with packet editing, the
tool is also
available; click on the
corresponding button to invoke it.
You can also
click on the button with an arrow on it to display the list of
available packet templates. The program comes with
using them is often faster than typing hex codes in the
editor window. These templates contain typical TCP, UDP, and ICMP
packets, but you would most probably want to edit many packet
fields and use meaningful values that suit your needs, such as real
MAC and IP addresses, port numbers, SEQ and ACK numbers, etc. You
can use your own templates rather than the built-in ones. You can
drag-and-drop a packet from the CommView Packets tab to the
Templates section in the Packet Generator window. If you drop
several packets into the Templates section, only the first packet
will be used as a template. An entry named New Template will appear
in the list of templates. You can rename a template by
right-clicking on it in the list and selecting Rename.
If you need to delete a template, right-click on it and
select Delete
pop-up menu. Selecting a template in the list will load the packet
that it contains in the editor window where it can be edited prior
to sending.
You can also
place NCF files with the templates of your choice to the TEMPLATES
subfolder in the application folder. If CommView finds NCF files
(or just one of them) in the TEMPLATES subfolder, it will list them
among the available templates in the drop-down list. These NCF
files should contain only one packet per file, but if you use a
file that contains many packets, CommView will load only the first

Working with multiple packets
You can use

to the Packet Generator window. When multiple packets are being

Saving edited packets
If you edit a
packet and would like to save it, just drag the decoder tree to the
desktop or any folder, and a new file in NCF format containing the
packet will be created. The file name is always PACKET.NCF. You can
also drag the packet to the templates window. If you need to edit
and send multiple packets, edit them one by one, each time dragging
a new packet to the desktop and renaming it. After that, open a new
Log Viewer window, drag-n-drop the edited packets from the desktop
to Log Viewer, select them using the Shift button, and invoke the
Packet Generator using the context menu.

Jack Warner's legal battle against extradition to the United States on corruption charges could 'possibly last years' and even end up being heard by the Privy Council, the Attorney General of Trinidad has said.
The former FIFA
vice-president is currently on bail in Trinidad after being one of the people indited by US authorities over allegations of racketeering, wire fraud and money-laundering conspiracies spanning 24 years.
American whistleblower Chuck Blazer has said he and others took bribes totalling 10million US dollars for South Africa to host the 2010 World Cup and an undisclosed sum for Morocco's unsuccessful bid to host the 1998 tournament, sworn testimony which is contained in a plea bargain published by the US Department of Justice.
The South African Football Association has denied the claims and is angered by the reports and believes they tarnish both the reputation of the organisation and some of the country's most prominent personalities.
In 2008, t he then SAFA president Molefi Oliphant sent a letter - obtained by Press
Association Sport - in 2008 to FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke saying that
10million US dollars should be administered directly by Warner .
The money was intended to support football in the Caribbean, SAFA said.
It has been alleged Warner used some of the funds for credit card payments
and personal loans and that JTA Supermarkets, a large chain in Trinidad,
received 4.86million US dollars from the accounts.
In the three transactions - on 4 January, 1 February and 10 March 2008 - funds
totalling 10million US dollars (?6.5million on current exchange rates) from FIFA
accounts were received into CONCACAF accounts controlled by Warner.
Former FIFA vice-president Warner has denied any wrongdoing, claiming during a
televised address in Trinidad on Wednesday night he would reveal an " avalanche" of documents in support of his case and also
prove a link between football's governing body and his nation's elections in 2010.
Channel 4 News were given permission to film Warner in his constituency office, but he refused to answer the reporter's questions on the
corruption
Attorney General of Trinidad Garvin Nicholas, however, did speak on camera.
Nicholas indicated the complex legal nature of the on-going case was unlikely to resolve itself quickly, with the United Kingdom's
Judicial Committee of The Privy Council the court of final appeal constitutionally for the independent Commonwealth nation.

"Anyone would have the opportunity to appeal all the way to the Privy Council if it was merited. I could not say whether such appeals would be merited or pursued at this time."
FIFA continues to find itself at the centre of daily revelations over historic
corruption since in late May when seven FIFA officials were arrested in dawn raids at a hotel in
Zurich and were charged by US authorities, along with two other FIFA officials
and five corporate executives.
Despite the arrests, FIFA president Sepp Blatter was re-elected, but on Tuesday the 79-year-old announced his resignation.
On Sunday, t he head of FIFA's audit and compliance committee has reportedly claimed Russia
and Qatar could lose the right to host the World Cup if evidence emerges of
bribery in the bidding processes.
The bidding processes for the 2018 and 2022 World Cup finals were not subject
to any charges announced by US authorities, but the FBI's on-going investigation
into corruption at the world governing body is reported to be set to put those
processes under scrutiny.
Both Russia and Qatar have strenuously denied any wrongdoing. England lost out
in the 2018 voting process to Russia, along with combined bids from
Spain/Portugal and Holland/Belgium, while Qatar were unexpected 2022 winners
ahead of the likes of the United States, South Korea, Japan and Australia.
However, Domenico Scala, who is the independent chairman of FIFA's audit and
compliance committee, told Swiss newspaper Sonntagszeitung if anything untoward
was uncovered, there could be the most serious of repercussions.
''Should there be evidence that the awards to Qatar and Russia came only
because of bought votes, then the awards could be cancelled,'' he is quoted as
saying in the newspaper.
