There are many_____ between the twopictures.
A.different
B.differents
C.difference
D.differences
There are many differences between British English and American English.I used to teach a course about the differences between the two.We speak English on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean but we have many differences in our common language. We have examples of the same words having very different meanings, differing spellings of the same words as well as completely different words for the same things. Here are some examples. A cookie in the US is called a biscuit in the UK.A biscuit in the US is a small cake in the UK.Crisps in the UK,are known as chips, but we British people eat a plate of chips that you call fries in the US.In the UK,a pie can be made from either meat or fruit, while in the US pies are normally made from fruit;pot pies are made from meat. Most things are measured in grams and kilograms in the US,not pounds and ounces. One very obvious (明显的) difference is the side of the road we each choose to drive on.Petrol in the UK is gas in the US.The place where we fill up our cars,in the UK,is a garage;while in the US,it’s a gas station. The term garage is also used as a place to store your car next to or close by your house. In the UK we call a lorry what is known as a truck in the US. An elevator in the US is called a lift here, and the first floor in the US,is called the ground floor here,so many visitors get off on the wrong floor in British hotels. I could continue with this. There are countless examples of differences within our one shared language. With so many differences,no wonder it’s hard to understand each other well. 6.The passage is mainly about the differences between British English and American English in________. A.vocabulary B.grammar C.sound D.spelling 7.It’s implied in the passage that the author may be________. A.a driver from the US B.a cook from the US C.a teacher from the UK D.a gas station worker from the UK 8.In the author’s opinion,________. A.language differences don’t affect understanding B.the same words in the two different types of English may have different spellings C.there will be fewer differences between American and British English in the future D.it is impossible that some Americans get off on the wrong floor in British hotels 9.What can we learn from the passage? A.“Elevator” is commonly used in the UK. B.Pies mean the same thing in the UK and the US. C.In the UK,things are measured in pounds and ounces. D.British and American people drive on the same side of the road. 10.Which of the following is WRONG according to the passage? A.Petrol in the UK is gas in the US. B.Fries in the US are chips in the UK. C.A cookie in the US is a biscuit in the UK. D.A gas station in the UK is a garage in the US.

1.C others some...others...泛指2.A.None 回答表示数量的,如how many,how much,用none,不用nothing或no one,nobody.
Some cleaned the windows, others
mopped the floor.
This dictionary is better than the
others.
many friends. ______ are outgoing, _____ are shy.
A.S others
B.S another
D.S the other
第一个空填Some可以确定,因为前面交代过是 many friends,所以这里some表示many
another是在
the other一般搭配为one...the other...
这个句子后面还差一个 “in it”(即taking a walk in it.) 。。

楼主您好,1选others.people 就是复数形式,不能加s.the other 和the others泛指。 Who 的回答是No one.
1、C some ‘’‘others这个是固定用法2、A

“Mind your own business.” we’re told.“Don’t talk about others behind their backs.”The problem with this advice is that, not only is it unrealistic,it’s also counterproductive(起反作用的). Common sense holds that gossip(流言蜚语)hurts people’s feelings and damages relationships. But recent research shows the opposite—that strong communities and relationships between people would be impossible without gossip. Gossip is a way for people to let you know the limits of social behavior.“If you move into a community and your neighbor tells you how the former homeowner never dealt with his rubbish properly, his gossip is letting you in on something,”says Dr.Ralph Rosnow of Temple University.“Gossip says:these are the boundaries and you are crossing them. You’re not abiding by the rules and you’d better get back in line.” Seen this way, gossip is a way to communicate criticism(批评)without conflict(冲突),giving you a chance to change your behavior without losing face. On the other hand, what about ill-willed gossip, the kind that puts other people down? Gossip is hearing something we like about someone we don’t and,in nearly every country in the world, gossip magazines have huge numbers of readers.According to researchers, however, this kind of gossip also has a good side because it helps us put our own problems in perspective(正确地).“If we read bad news about well-known people,or get the frightful details of our neighbors’ bad situation over a cup of coffee, our own problems begin to pale in comparison(对比),”says Dr.Jack Levin of Northeastern University. However, that doesn’t mean that gossip is necessarily a good thing, either.Researchers found that people who gossip a lot tend to feel like they’re under a lot of stress. This might be because while they’re busy talking about other people, they’re also busy thinking what other people are saying about them. 小题1:What is the purpose of the text?A.To encourage us to spread gossip about others.B.To prevent us from spreading gossip about others。C.To make a comparison between good gossip and bad gossip.D.To recognize certain positive functions of gossip.小题2:According to the passage, people in general think that__________.A.it’s a bad habit to gossipB.nobody pays attention to gossipC.not all the gossip you hear is worth believingD.it’s necessary to have a nice gossip with a friend or neighbor小题3:The underlined phrase “abiding by” in Paragraph 3 most probably means“________”.A.makingB.breakingC.obeyingD.changing小题4:It could be learned from the passage that__________.A.people under much stress enjoy gossiping about others.B.in a way gossip helps us deal with our own problems. C.in fact most people tend to believe gossip.D.the more there is gossip, the stronger relationships become between people.

In America, when people say“man's best friend”, they don't mean another person. Instead, they are talking about a lovely animal—a dog! These words show the friendship(友谊) between people and animals. Dogs and other pets can give joy to people's lives. Some people think of their pets as their children. Some people even leave all their money to their pets when they die!Animals can help people, too. We may know that there are four basic periods for human beings to pass through when you enter and live in another country. This process(变化过程) helps you deal with culture shock(文化冲击). Culture shock begins with the "honeymoon period". This is the time when you first arrive in a place where everything about the new cu1ture is strange and exciting. You see new things, hear new sounds and language, eat new kinds of food. This period can last for quite a long time because you feel very happy. Unluckily, the second period can be more difficu1t.& After you have got used to your new life, you can become very tired and begin to miss your motherland, your family, your friends, your pets and so on. Al1 the little prob1ems in life seem to be much bigger and more worrying when you face them in a foreign country. This period can be very difficult and lead to moving backwards quickly. The third period is called the "adjustment(调整) period". This is When you begin to realize that things are not so bad in the new country. Your sense of humor usually becomes stronger and you realize you are becoming stronger by 1earning to take care of yourself in the new place. Things are still difficult, but you are now a survivor(善于求生者). The fourth period can be cal1ed "at ease at last". Now you feel quite comfortable in your new place. You can deal with most problems that you have. You may still have prob1ems with language, but you know you are strong enough to deal with them.
