三、解题步骤
1.了解文章大意
了解文章大意是做题的第一步,也是关键的一步。只有读懂了文章,才能顺利地在表格中填出相应的信息。要特别注意表格前的小标题,它通常就是段落和表格的主题句。读懂了表格标题有助于理解短文及表格的大意,了解表格结构。
2.熟悉短文结构
了解短文的写作思路和结构,有助于加深对文章内容的了解,同时文章的结构往往也是很重要的设题线索。表格项目可能就是根据文章的结构而设计的。
3.分析表格线索
通过分析表格的项目内容,根据已有的所提供的现成的表格内容提示可以确定表格的设计线索,理清表格的设计原理。
4.确定题目答案
在了解表格设计项目的基础上,再回到短文中,寻找确定答案的关键词语,从而确定正确答案。
四、临场技法
基于以上分析,考场中我们应该如何应对呢?
1.我们经过多年的英语学习,已经具备了一般的阅读理解能力,所以获得直接信息的能力往往已经具备,只要我们从容应对,冷静思考,一般的捕捉信息题是可以对付的。
2.在组织信息题方面,我们总结出以下几个规律:
(1)用名词所有格形式&&s&代替介词of。如79题Citizens& longer living就巧妙地运用了名词所有格形式&&s&,如用of,则变成了the longer living of citizens,在字数上不符合要求。
(2)词性转换。如第76题,文章的第二段和第三段都用&The&graying&of the United States&引起,在表达时运用词性转换技巧,将原来的名词graying转换成现在分词时,含有动态意义,表示&逐渐变老&,言简意赅。
(3)句子结构转换。如第81题和第82题,短文中的原信息是两个完整的句子:One likely development will be a gradual change in the family unit.The other likely development will be a change in the proportion of the nation&s workforce.将句子的核心词进行转换,变成&Family unit change&和&Workforce proportion change&,从而达到&每空不超过3个单词&的要求。
3.在解答综合表达信息题方面,我们要根据标题词的特点进行表达。平时注意积累典型的概括性词汇。如:topic, types, forms, cause, reason, result, effects, advice, suggestions, opinions, names, sex, age, features, advantages, disadvantages等。通常情况下,在概括信息时,我们可遵循以下几个原则:
(1)概括性原则,即在最大限度上覆盖行(栏)内信息,囊括其主要内容。
(2)针对性原则,所用的概括词不能太大,也不能太具体,要量体裁衣,大小适度。
(3)醒目性原则,在满足概括性和针对性的条件下,还要考虑其醒目性,即注意措辞,吸引读者的注意力,当然这是较高层次的要求。
