Documents To Go Hot Topics iPhone Answers:
A file I was previously able to edit in 'Sheet To Go' is now locked/read only
You have the option of reverting back to the previous 'Sheet To Go' version, so that you can edit your file. You can do so by following these steps: Open Docs To Go and go to More/Settings/Help and under Advanced Options, turn the Legacy Spreadsheets option from 'Off' to 'On'.
Background: We have introduced greater protection against corrupting files in specific cases where functions and/or tables are not technically supported, and have thus set these files to 'read-only' in the latest version.
How do I insert/delete rows or columns in Sheet To Go?
To insert a row:
1. Tap and hold on the column or row header below where you would like the new column/row inserted.
2. You will then see options to Cut, Copy, Insert/Delete, Hide/Unhide.
Select Insert/Delete and you will get the option to Insert Rows (or columns) or Delete Rows (or columns).
NOTE: An inserted row will be added above the selected row.
An inserted column will be inserted to the left of the selected column.

How do I reinstall Documents To Go DESKTOP App on my Mac or PC?
To reinstall the
Documents To Go for iOS desktop application, click one of the following directly from your PC or Mac:
My iPad/iPhone/iPod touch is not listed in the "Add Device Wizard". Step 1 - Internet Connection Please be sure you can make an internet connection on both your device and your computer.
On your device, make sure WiFi is enabled and that you can browse to a live webpage in Safari. Your iOS device and computer must be on the same WiFi Network. You cannot sync via USB cable. Note that places that offer free WiFi connections, often block certain traffic on the WiFi router. Check if your router supports multicasting. Bonjour requires that your wireless router supports &multicasting.& There are some wireless routers that do NOT support this feature. Contact the manufacturer of your router to find out how to enable the multicasting feature if it is supported.
Step 2 - Device name Please note that if your device is not named, this is a reason that the device may not be listed. If your device is not listed, try clicking where it says &no devices found& in the window that should list devices found on the network.
Step 3 - Bonjour Documents To Go relies on Bonjour to discover the device on the network. If Bonjour cannot find your device, there is no way to pair it with the Desktop application. There are a couple of reasons why Bonjour cannot discover the device on the network:
1. Bonjour is not enabled.
To ensure that Bonjour is enabled, open iTunes on your computer and follow these steps:
On your computer, go to your Control Panel&&Administrative Tools&&Services Right click on &Bonjour& and choose &Start&
2. Bonjour needs to be repaired. To repair Bonjour:
Go to Start & Control Panel Under &Programs&, select Uninstall A Program (or if the Control Panel is in &Classic View&, go to Programs And Features) In the list that appears, select Bonjour Click Repair and repair the installation
If you are using a Mac, you must have the Bonjour update installed which can be found here:
Step 4 - Open Docs To Go Please be sure that Documents To Go is open on your device.
Select the DocsToGo icon on your device to open the app. If you did not have Documents To Go opened before, please select &Add Device& again from the desktop application and try to connect your device with the computer again.
Step 5 - Firewalls Firewall software such as Norton Antivirus, AVG Anti-Virus, ZoneAlarm and others can prevent Documents To Go Desktop or Bonjour from communicating with your device (Bonjour is technology from Apple for discovering wireless devices).Sometimes, a firewall may be blocking Documents To Go or Bonjour. To check if your Firewall is causing the problem, please follow these steps:
Turn off your firewall to check if this is blocking either Documents To Go or Bonjour (if you are using Windows Firewall, you can generally find its settings in Control Panel & Security Center & Windows Firewall). If turning off your firewall resolves the problem, you should be able to turn the firewall back on and create exceptions for Documents To Go and Bonjour:
In your firewall settings, create an exception for Bonjour to allow incoming and outgoing connections.
In your firewall settings, create an exception for Documents To Go to allow outgoing connections over any protocol.
NOTE: If you are in a corporate environment and cannot alter your firewall settings, you will need to contact your IT administrator. For more information about troubleshooting Bonjour/firewall issues, please see the following page on Apple's support site:
Step 6 - VPN If you use VPN on your computer, it may be causing a conflict with Bonjour or Documents To Go. If you use VPN and it is on, you will need to see if it causing a conflict by following these steps:
Turn off VPN on your computer (open the Properties settings for your wireless network connection and disable the VPN service option). Close the Documents To Go Desktop application and then reopen it.
Close the Documents To Go application on your device and then reopen it. Attempt the pairing again by selecting Add Device in the Desktop application.
Desktop synchronization no longer works, or my device is disconnected. How can I fix it?
Please verify/try the following:
Documents To Go is open on your device. The application must be running for your device to be found
Your iOS device is connected to the same WiFi network as your computer (Docs To Go cannot connect to a device via USB)
Try to remove the pairing from Documents To Go on both the computer and the device, and then re-pair them.
Note: If you have files saved in the My DocsToGo folder on your desktop or in the Desktop folder on your device, be sure to save them elsewhere before removing the pairing or you will lose them. To &re-pair& the Desktop and the iOS device, follow these steps:
If the above suggestions do not work, try the following:
1. Temporarily disable your firewall, antivirus software, or internet security software installed
2. Ensure that Bonjour is enabled.
Enable the Bonjour service (Windows only) by doing the following: Go to your Control Panel, choose &Administrative Tools&, choose &Services.& Right click on &Bonjour& and choose &Start&
3. Repair Bonjour.
4. You can also try to delete your desktop from the handheld once more, delete your Wi-Fi connection, and then recreate both:
I'm trying to pair my iPhone/iPod/iPad with my computer but it tells me my device is already paired.
Next, reopen Documents To Go on both your computer and your device. In Documents To Go Desktop on the computer, go to the Options menu (Windows) or the Device menu (Mac) and select "Add Device" (or it may automatically run the Add Device Wizard). Follow the steps in the Add Device Wizard to complete the pairing, then try to synchronize.
I receive the error &Download Failed- Safari cannot download this file& when trying to download the Documents To Go Desktop app on my iPad.
The Documents To Go Desktop application is intended for your desktop or laptop computer running a Windows or Macintosh operating system. Please download the
to your desktop or laptop computer.
I receive an error message when trying to open a file in Documents To Go on my iPhone/iPad/iPod
You may receive various error messages for the following reasons:
The file type was created in an unsupported version of Microsoft Office such as MS Office 95 or below (These files will have a .doc, .xls, or .ppt extension). The file was created by a non-Microsoft program such as OpenOffice. Files created by non-Microsoft programs in Microsoft Office file formats (.doc or .xls) are not officially supported. This is because non-Microsoft programs create Word and Excel files differently than Microsoft Office does. This means that even though programs such as OpenOffice can create .DOC and .XLS files, they are not exactly the same as .DOC and .XLS files created by Microsoft Word or Excel. Therefore, such files are not always fully compatible with Documents To Go, which is why they are not supported.
The file was damaged or became corrupted.
Which Excel functions and formulas are supported in Documents To Go for iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad Documents To Go supports the majority of Excel spreadsheet functions. If a spreadsheet contains a function not supported by Documents To Go, the file will be locked on the device. Below is a list of Excel spreadsheet functions supported by Documents To Go. For more detailed information about each function, please refer to the Help file in Excel. &

Can Documents To Go
synchronize with multiple desktop computers?
Yes, Documents To Go can synchronize with multiple desktop computers by using the Documents To Go Desktop program, or by using an online &cloud storage& service.
Documents To Go can be set up to synchronize with the &Documents To Go Desktop& program on multiple computers. Each computer will have its own separate sync folder in the &Desktop Files& section in Documents To Go on the device, and each sync folder on the device will only synchronize with its associated computer. If you want to copy files between different computers, you can open a file in Documents To Go and do a &Save As& to save a new copy of it to another desktop sync folder. However, it would be a separate copy of the file and would not synchronize changes with the original.
Cloud Storage Synchronization(Documents To Go Premium only) Documents To Go Premium supports synchronization with several online &cloud storage& services. You can download and edit files from your online account directly in Documents To Go, and synchronize your changes back to that account. Most (if not all) of the supported cloud storage services have their own options to synchronize your online files with one or more desktop computers. Therefore, if you edit or create files in Documents To Go and sync them to your online account, the online account can synchronize them to your desktop computer(s).
How do I set up Documents To Go to sync files from a cloud account?
You can download files from your online account directly to Documents To Go on the device, and any changes you make can be saved and synchronized back to that online account. You can also create new files in Documents To Go and upload them to your account. To set up online file synchronization in Documents To Go, follow these steps: Open Documents To Go on your device.
Tap the Cloud tab.
Select the Account type you wish to access (Google Drive, iCloud, etc.)
Enter the settings for your account:
Email / Username / Member Name: The email address or username for your cloud account. These may or may not be the same, depending on the type of account yu have.
Password: The password for your cloud account.
After entering your Settings, tap &Sign in or Save& and wait for it to verify your settings.
To set the &Max Cache size& which is the maximum amount of space used to store downloaded copies of your online files in Documents To Go (default is 100 MB), go to Settings and click on the account name.
Does Documents To Go have a spell check feature?
There is no actual spell check feature in Documents To Go; we use the built-in Auto Correct Technology.
If Auto-Correct is not working when you are using Documents To Go, that is because the iOS setting is turned off.
To turn it back on, go to the General Settings on your device.
Scroll down and select 'Keyboard'.
In the top box, there should be an option for Auto Correction.
Slide this option from 'Off' to 'On'.
How do I edit my document?
To edit your document, tap anywhere on the screen and then select the pencil icon in the top right corner.
Your file will then be switched to Edit mode!
How do I sort rows in Sheet To Go?
To sort a row in Sheet To Go, tap on the formatting "pen" on the top green bar to bring up the formatting menu.
Then tap on the A for the cell formatting options and tap the Sort button.
I am missing some features in PowerPoint.
Our PowerPoint engine has been completely re-engineered&from the&ground up&to greatly improve the viewing and editing capabilities.&The&viewing experience now&includes&enhancements not found&in previous versions such as SmartArt. &In addition, we've greatly improved the&integrity&of other slide objects&such as&charts and images. &The editing has also been immensely improved, most evident in&the&ability to edit text on&the&individual slides themselves (instead of in Outline View only,&which&was what was previously supported). &Finally, the speed that the slide renders&has also been&upgraded.&With all these improvements, however, there were some&items&that had to be temporarily removed in order to get this update out to our&customers sooner. Specifically, the ability to create new&PowerPoint files&did not make this release, nor did the ability to create or edit Notes. &Rest assured that&this&is currently slated as a &must update& and&will be available soon to Premium users.
How do I send multiple attachments in one email?
To attach multiple documents to an email, do the following:
1. Open Documents To Go and find the files that you want to mail (they must all be in one section for this to work. For example, you can send more than one &local& file (those listed on your iPhone/iPad tab, but not one from the iPhone tab and one from Google Drive).
2. Tap More >> Select (if you are using an iPad, you can simply tap on the check mark in the top right corner).
3. Tap on the documents that you want to send in the email then tap on the envelope icon on the bottom toolbar.
4. This will open a new email, with the files attached!
How do I select multiple cells, rows, or columns in an Excel file in Documents To Go?
To select multiple cells, tap and hold. You will see dotted lines appear around the cells you are selecting. Then simply &drag& to select multiple cells. The same method can be used to select multiple columns or rows.
Can I freeze rows or columns in Documents To Go?
Single and multiple rows or columns may be frozen in a spreadsheet. To freeze a row or column, select it, and tap the Freeze Panes icon at the bottom of the screen
Once the chosen area is frozen, that area will remain on screen while you're able to pan the rest of the unfrozen document. To freeze both a row and a column, select a single cell and tap the Freeze Panes icon at the bottom of the screen. The panes will be frozen around that cell.
How do I add files and folders to Documents To Go Desktop?
There are two basic ways to add files and folders to Documents To Go Desktop on your computer:
Move files & folders into the My DocsToGo folder on your computer.
Add folders to the Documents To Go Desktop application on your computer. You can use whichever method you like. Both methods are described below:
Move files & folders into the My DocsToGo folder:
The first time you successfully pair your iPad/iPhone/iPod touch with the Documents To Go Desktop application, a folder named "My DocsToGo" will be created in the Documents folder on your computer, and a shortcut to this folder will be created on the Desktop:
This folder will automatically be added to Documents To Go Desktop. Simply move files (or folders containing files) into the My DocsToGo folder, and they will be copied to the device the next time you synchronize.
Add folders to the Documents To Go Desktop application:
Instead of moving files & folders into the My DocsToGo folder, you can add additional folders to Documents To Go Desktop by dragging & dropping them into the program (or by using the "Add Folder" button). These folders will sync with the device the same way the My DocsToGo folder does.
After adding a folder, you can double-click on it in the Documents To Go Desktop program (or use the "Edit Folder" button) to see list of all the supported items that exist within that folder. By default, all supported items inside the folder will be synchronized (you can uncheck any items that you do not want to sync to your device).
NOTE:If you remove a folder from Documents To Go Desktop, it will not be deleted from your computer, but it will no longer sync with your device.
Certain files or folders in Documents To Go Desktop do not sync to my iPad/iPhone/iPod touch.
There are several reasons why certain files or folders may not sync to Documents To Go on your device:
Unsupported file types File formats that are not supported by Documents To Go will not synchronize. They will not cause any problems for the other files and will simply be ignored by Documents To Go Desktop. Missing file extensions Files that are missing extensions will not synchronize. If the missing files are supported but are missing file extensions, find those files on your computer and add the appropriate extension to each one. Not selected for synchronization Files and subfolders within a folder listed in Documents To Go Desktop can be individually set to sync or to not sync. In Documents To Go Desktop, select a folder and click the "Edit Folder" button. You will see a list of all the supported files & subfolders that exist within that folder (click the '+' button next to a folder to see its contents). Any files or subfolders that are not checked will not synchronize. Simply click the empty checkboxes next to items you want to sync to your device. Shortcuts & Aliases 'Shortcuts' (Windows) and 'Aliases' (Mac) are very small files which point to real files or folders located somewhere else on a computer. Although opening a shortcut or alias will open the real file/folder that it points to, it is not the actual file (it is literally just a shortcut to the actual file). Shortcuts or aliases within a folder listed in Documents To Go Desktop will not synchronize. You will need to move the original files/folders into the "My DocsToGo" folder, or add the folder containing them to Documents To Go Desktop.
I have a copy of Documents To Go on another platform/operating system.
Can I transfer that license to iOS?
Unfortunately, we cannot transfer the license to another operating system free of charge.
If you want to use Documents To Go for the iOS platform you would need to purchase a license through the App Store/iTunes.
Since it is not sold direct through DataViz, we are not able to offer a discount to our customers.
How do I purchase Documents To Go Premium Edition and/or Premium features?
The free version of Docs To Go/Docs To Go 'standard' has 'in-app purchase options' to buy Docs To Go Premium, Cloud access only, Desktop Sync only, or Password Protected file access only:
Open Documents To Go and select &More & from the main screen then tap &Store&. You will see options to purchase the Premium Pack, Cloud access, Desktop Sync, or Password Protected file access (for more information on any of these options tap on the respective Learn More link). Tap the price button next to the option you would like to purchase. Tap the &Buy& button to confirm your in-app purchase.
The in-app purchase process takes place through the App Store, and will add the purchased features to your existing version of Docs To Go.
NOTE: Although you will have the upgraded features, the icon for "DocsToGo" on your iPad/iPhone/iPod touch will remain the same vs. changing to the "Premium" version of the icon. This is normal, because technically the standard version of Documents To Go is installed (upgrades are like invisible "add-on" apps).
If you purchased Premium edition directly from the App Store, the icon will look like this:
If you upgrade from the standard edition to the Premium edition, the icon will look like this:
