Smoking is the biggest preventable cause of death and disease，都可以用the 两个都表示原因。例，但是cause指导致不好的结果..of 结构.. 吸烟是造成不必要疾病和死亡的最大原因，而reason是很客观理性的表述

算不得什么短语，都是不好的事情的原因。cause 一般有一定感情色彩有the reason of 但是
reason 常和for 搭配，例如 for the reason 或 the reason for his being late ，前后介词都用for。cause 后搭配介词是of
例如 the cause of the fire
