Old People Knowledge during the New Era
The innovation of technology continually changes the way how the world works, including the lifestyle and the way of thinking of its users. Individuals of the new generation, also known as the youth, are the ones who easily adapts to these modifications. Whereas the older people find it difficult to adjust to these changes and they can't help but compare it to the simplicity of their lives way back during their time. So is old people knowledge still applicable today, or is the young people knowledge more relevant?
Old people knowledge is more focused on the culture and traditions, while the young people knowledge is centered on how to operate these devices brought about by technology's evolution. To make this statement clearer, here is an example to prove it.
A mother is really good at writing letters. She knows what words to use in order for the receiver to feel the message of her letter. She can envelope the reader with emotions. She also sends it to the post office with all her warmth, from pasting on the stamp to dropping it to the mailbox. But is she aware of the convenience with using the electronic mail through the internet? Old people are so into their old ways of doing things that they can't accept the changes that are happening around them. This is the advantage of the younger generation. They can easily adjust and live by the variation presented to them.
Being aware of one's culture and traditions is important. But it should be balanced with the present time's lifestyle. Being left out is really a disadvantage because how the world works continuously evolves, leveling up every now and then.
